Tricky one, this. I'd have to throw Dark Knight Returns, Watchmen and Transmetropolitan in there but everything else would probably vary depending on my mood... Sandman, Lucifer, late-80s Uncanny X-Men, New Avengers (up to a point)... I've liked Spider-man on and off all my life but I don't think there's any I'd class in my top 10. This is harder than working out a top 10 of movies!

My favourite is Whizzer and Chips. Also love Beano, Dandy, Beezer, Topper and Viz.
I thought that Whizzer and Chips was a bit of a rarity so it is great to see so many people mentioning it. I'm a big fan of Giles the Cartoonist too but that's for a different thread. |

Comics that I read and collected, from best to least best:
Eagle (1950s/60s version) - Doctor Who Weekly Eagle (the relaunched 1980s version) 2000AD (the first ten years) Scream! Misty Countdown/TV Action Battle (pre-Action Force) Jackpot Nutty An honourary second place goes to TV Century 21 comic, only because I've never been able to afford the issues and only owning half a dozen of them but from what I have seen it was exceptional. |

2015 update:
Powers - Brian M Bendis Watchmen - Alan Moore Dark Knight Returns - Frank Miller Miracleman / Marvel Man - Alan Moore The Boys - Garth Ennis Stray Bullets - David Lapham Dark Avengers / New Avengers / Avengers / Alias - Brian M Bendis Chronicles of Wormwood - Garth Ennis DMZ - Brian Wood NYX - Joe Quesada (!) Mainstream Marvel and DC are dying on me at the mo! Image comics, and the Indies are producing the only stuff worth reading (as well as DC's Vertigo and Marvel's Icon sub-brands) at the mo... current favourite has to be Image's Stray Bullets pick-up and maybe Vertigo's pick up of Astro City. Marvel's Secret Wars heralds the possible end of my reading of Marvel... but a part of me what's to see how Ultimate Spidey is integrated. |

I only ever read my mate's comics (other than the Eagle when I was about 10-11) and the ones I remember were....
Watchmen - Far and away the most sophisticated and adult and best comic I ever read. One of the X men ones where Jean Grey ends up in some other dimensional world and Angel is featured a lot. One of the Batman ones. The Killing Joke or some title similar to that. This is a while ago so I'm a bit vague about it all. I did reread Watchmen around the time the movie came out so am far more familiar with that. For me, Watchmen was at a whole other level compared to the few others I read. |
