wanted down under,....nicki chapman
i really enjoy the format of this show the one thing that ruins it for me is the host...
She really bugs me with her earnest looks to camera and constant talking with her hands..why cant she just talk without trying to convey so much emotion in every word..and hand gesture. please auntie beeb find a new presenter. |

I like this show as well.
I have them on my planner but not yet watched any new ones. Also Phil Down Under starts on Channel 4 on Friday at 8PM so will watch or record this. |

I used to like this when Nadia Sawalha presented it, but I can't stand to watch Nicki Chapman because of the way she speaks through her nose. It amazes me that she keeps getting work with a speaking voice like that !

Yes worth watching this show too...just to hopefully see the lovely phil topless...
![]() ![]() Nicky Chapman has to be one of the most unnatural presenters the BBC has ever employed. I'm sure one of the production staff has a key to wind her up. Bring back Nadia, she was much better. |

I don't get the point of Nicki Chapman. She is useless at just about everything she touches in TV. On WDU she addresses us as if we are all 10 years old.

I only saw it for the first time over xmas but I’ve been recording them and watching them on a Friday night and whizzes straight past her!!!
I must admit I really do like the show – I’d just like to see them say 6 months later at the end to show how it all turned out. |

I find Nicki Chapman incredibly attractive. I like her.
I'm the same about Denise Nurse too. |

One thing about this programme, I'm really confused as to why in every show it's either Melbourne or Adelaide the families go to. Have they got some kind of contract with those places or something? It seems a bit weird to me and I'm getting fed up with it, I want to see different areas covered!! A couple of days ago the obvious best area was Perth... but nope, back to Melbourne again!??

I'm starting to get sick of people who blatently can't afford to move blindly picking Austrailia.
People whos houses are worth 50k less than they expected, are gonna earn 10k a year less but need to spend 1k a month more on living still pick Austrailia! |

im sure this show is sponsored by the Aussie Government!
A lot of the familes are delusional working class, but expect to move to more expensive, middle class districts in Australia for a 'better life'. What this programme fails to point out is, you can have a perfectly good lifestyle here. You just have to move to the right area. Australia is not the be all and end all. There's plenty of good things about this country too. |

There's plenty of good things about this country too. It's not that I have anything particularly against Nicki, but the script and the dramatic build up aren't helped by her delivery. As you say, people who, regardless of class, are just deluded. Deluded about what their home's worth, deluded about cost of living, lifestyle and the amount of work they'd need to do. The majority seem to think they can swap a terrace/semi or less costly detached for a big detached house on a large plot with a swimming pool and sea views, be mortgage free and work half the hours they work here. It's on now, tears before we start as the 18 year old daughter doesn't want to go. |

Yes Rose, they were in NZ yesterday.
Here we are - we like this house but it's £25,000 over our budget. |

Yeah there was one family a week or so ago who had a brother over there and it just seemed a blatant free trip to visit.
We've just had 'the family could be facing financial ruin' |

Why don't people realise that houses are only worth what other people are prepared to pay for it.

I don't get this - she could earn much more there...but she'd be working full time not part time, so she would earn more!
Did they factor in some childcare for their youngest son? Didn't hear that discussed. Then we had the fact that a lack of football could be a 'serious problem'
