These two don't seem to like each other much.

Good Morning
I missed the beginning as I wasn't near a TV. My other half came and found me and said you've got to come and watch this couple, they're crazy.

Definitely transporting their problems half way around the globe if you ask me!

When OH told me what they'd done I couldn't quite believe it - messing around so much. He seems unable to accept responsibility and is only thinking of himself.
I'd question how much he actually wants family life - they made it sound like he'd much rather be down the beach or if not that, hanging around a surf shack.

Once again aswell sending them to one of the most expensive areas when at home they're in a much cheaper one.

Going on about the weather as well - they were there in winter again I presume?

When she said "Hopefully he has grown up in the last 5 years and will get a job" you knew there was no hope for them.

The only saving grace for this family is that she is the breadwinner, and has a career. When he drifts further into his mid-life crisis, and finishes up as a sad old beach bum pretending to be 20, she can dump him without any significant change in her circumstances.

They need to rename the show to "Holiday down Under"

i missed most of this. So they were divorced and re-married? Are they still together? Does the bloke have a job? And what went wrong with their first attempt at migration?

I think what went wrong with earlier migration was that he couldn't be bothered to get a job.

Yes, divorced and remarried. He didn't get a job last time, and has not got one now. Likelihood he will not get one that's not near a beach. The cynic in me sees him as not really interested in her or the child, but that she, with her career, is his passport into the country.

I didn't see it all, as I said, missed the beginning but I got the gist that they'd not settled at all in New Zealand, where they went before and thought it was 'too cold' Did they split before returning to Wales or after? I guess after as they both have a house there, they live in hers and rent his out.
She also talked about unhappy memories and him having someone else?
Then at some stage they reunited and got married again.

I don't think he knows what he wants apart from going surfing.

If he didn't get a job in NZ and not got one now, what makes her think things will be different in Oz? Again, I was interested in how they are going to get a mortgage, with her working part time, for somewhere in the region of £200,000 or more? !

I thought it was very telling where he looked for work experience. It looked less like he wants work and more like a full time hobby.

Very odd couple this morning, couldn't warm to either of them.

The wife also pointed out that they had come out (her and the girls) before and then he'd come out with another woman and it still left a nasty taste in her mouth. It was like they didn't like the other that much, she kept making digs and he just wanted to escape and go surfing all day and let her bring in the wages!

It was telling that after the vote he said he had always wanted to come for the weather, lifestyle and surfing. His wife had to remind him it was to benefit the whole family.

Oh dear, wonder how it will work out, I thought her parents looked worried.

I liked today's show. New Zealand again with Rob and David. A nice couple who looked at everything really sensibly and discussed it all well.

I think they would do well if they made the move. They took a realistic view, and both have good transferable careers. I reckon they'd build a new network of friends pretty quickly.

I think Rob had ulcerative colitis (sp?) He'd been really poorly over the course of about 3 years I think and needed 'several' operations. They did say he's well now.

You're right Snail, the ones you want to hear about, you don't - possibly because they have it all clearly thought out and there's no drama?

Why is a British publicily funded channel making a programme to help decide if to live abroad?

Maybe they should turn it on it's head and assist people from Eastern Europe, Vietnam or Somalia thinking of living in Britain.

I liked them too. Their job prospects were great, David offered a job right away and jobs coming up to suit Rob. Hope it works out for them, and we see them on a 'follow-up" show enjoying their new life.

I always thought Nikki Chapman didn't actually go to Australia and was just filmed in front of backdrops ?
