Morning All,

I was hoping for some advice on Network Media Players.

I'm looking for a HD with HDMI output (pref upscaling as well) which will act as a central hub for my PC and Laptop (connect via network rather than USB). I have a DNLA compliant TV (and a PS3) so the option to stream stuff via TVersity or Twonky (for movies with unsupported codecs) would be useful.

I looked at the LaCinema Classic from Lacie although I've been put off by some terrible reviews.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

TIA

Your PS3 is a network media streamer.

I think OP is looking for some device with storage device with the ability to also stream to a PS3 and DNLA TV.

OP - how about a htpc, should be able to pick up a SFF PC, HD video card and a 2TB drive for under 200 quid.

The OP already has a PC.

Sorry but when I first read the post it said HD and HDMI I wrongly assumed Hi Def, not Hard Disk Drive (HDD)

If its storage he is after then a simple networked harddrive like a Buffalo Link Station would suffice.

It your storage support SMB you can easily stream using things like the AC Ryan Playon mini. It manages to stream HD video over a 200MB Homeplug across the house too, from where all my storage devices are to our bedroom.

what you need is a ETHERNET hard drive. This connects to your router and is therefore wireless ( if router wireless )

your telly will pick up the hard drive and connect to it without streaming from laptop/computer

my telly plays Divx files on hard drive as well as MP3s/ AAC as well

to keep it wife proof , my xbox does all this as well , but also plays Dvi films and MP4 ones

so get something like this

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Western-Digi...=cm_cr_pr_pb_t

you can either have it as a Raid drive at 1 tb or 2tb if not a mirror hard drive

it streams to my 2nd xbox no probs

Your PS3 is a network media streamer.
In a way, some of what is necessary for unsupported formats is a bit bizarre, like having a pc powerful enough to both decode and transcode an hd file in real time
