LOL

I have ordered one, because none in the shop when one arrives ,they are going to contact me, might take 2 weeks. So not totally committed. Can still cancel order. Just wanted reviews on it. It was a bit of an in pulse buy.

But good point

I have got the 503 version. The sound is feeble like any LCD TV and it is out of synch with the picture but again I expect that. Apart from that and the lack of a proper printed manual pretty good TV.

You've spent hundreds of pounds for a Tv with the sound out of sync with the pic and you can live with that???

They all look out of sync to me. Looking for a s/h Felston audio delay at the moment.

Pretty much the point I was making. But then my sound system cost many times what my TV did. So depends what we mean by good sound I guess.

You should have made clear that you feed the sound output to a separate audio system.
Sound out of sync can sometimes be expected with this and a delay control on the amp should take care of it.

I must be missing something here. I dont see how a separate audio system can cause the sound to get ahead of the picture, unless perhaps you mean if the video is being sent through the amps connections from an external source; e.g. PVR or DVD. In fact I run the DVD straight to the TV (HDMI) and sound from TV to the amp (optical) and do not seem to get lip sync (picture behind sound) with that.

Anyway just using the TVs own tuner and speakers there is a lip sync problem (audio preceeds visuals) it is very slight and I guess 9 out of ten people would probably not be bothered by it, or even notice it.
I would rather not change the set even if I could show it was a fault, I like it in every other respect and I see the same problem on other TVs so could just be a waste of time in any event.
My old Yamaha DSP800e has no audio delay and I am reluctant to replace it.

LCD and Plasma TV's take a certain amount of time to process the picture image, decompressing it, de-intrlacing it, scaling it as required, processing it if required - and the better the TV, the better this process is, and the longer it takes.

So the TV also delays the sound to compensate, keeping the sound and picture in sync.

If you feed the TV from an external source (such as a Sky box), and then feed your sound system directly from the Sky box, the picture is getting delayed int the TV. but the sound isn't - result the sounds leads the picture.

You can overcome this by feeding the external amplifier from the outputs on the TV, either two phonos or optical - but this means no DD5.1, assuming the source is capable of it. This is why Sky HD boxes have adjustable audio delay, so you can feed the sound direct to your amp, and adjust the delay to keep it in sync.

Any decent amp should have a similar facility as well.

Sorry I thought I had made it clear the lip sync problem was not (just) happening when fed from an external source but when the TV was used stand alone; viz;

I was explained to others what causes it, your minor symptom is a different thing entirely, and could be down to the broadcasts? - which aren't very great for lip-sync.

You might check on the Sony support website though and see if there's a software update for the TV?.
