Ryse - a lot better than what the reviewers said about it.

Currently playing on Tomb Raider - very similar to the Uncharted series which is one of my favourite games ever so that's welcome for me. Seems like it has a good story to it so I'm enjoying it so far.

Started playing on The Last Of Us. Made by the same company as Uncharted so I have high hopes. Takes a while to get going but so far looks like I'm going to enjoy the story and hopefully it will be a good game.

Just started Rage know it's not a great game but it is a solid FPS only just over an hour in.

Completed Tomb Raider now and loved it! It was compelling throughout and I felt like I was with Lara every step of the way on her journey from young, naïve, vulnerable, innocent girl to mature, wise, strong, independent woman. It takes its place in my favourite games of all-time alongside the FIFA series, the GTA series, the Uncharted series, Mario Kart on the N64, Heavy Rain and Call Of Duty: Black Ops.

Finished Batman Arkham Origins. It wasn't nearly as bad as some people made it out to be.I enjoyed it. It did glitch once during a boss fight but other than that it played fine.

Can't believe the same person playing the joker is Joel in The Last of Us and Booker in Bioshock Infinite.

Finished Mass Effect 2 again last night, going to try as same character on Mass Effect 3 (beat it before but not as a same character). My class is an engineer.

Bought some lovely 360 games that I missed out on late last year. Diablo 3, Saint's Row 4 & season pass and XCOM: Enemy Within (which is only £15 on Xbox Live).

Hopefully these will tear me away from FM5 as I'm hopelessly addicted to it, it's all I ever play.

Usually I'm a PES gamer when it comes to football games, but I spotted FIFA 12 on eBay from the Argos Outlet for £2.99 new and sealed so I gave it a go.

Despite my jarring early attempts with the game, I am now starting to really dig the ebb and flow of it. It's a hugely different game to PES, and it does some things not as well, but it does other things much better. I really love it tbh, and I can see why so many prefer it to PES. I'm still not sure it's a better game per se, but now I'm starting to understand it better I'm really bloody enjoying it. Is the newer game worth buying or is it much the same?

I would say only buy it if you would appreciate having up to date squads and features. Gameplay is much the same so if it doesn't make a lot of difference to you that the players aren't on the right teams, it's probably not worth it. Personally I always get the new edition each year as I like to keep up to date, but everyone is different.

Thanks for that. To be honest I'm not so bothered about players and clubs being up to date and true to life. It's nice but it's not my number one priority when playing a football game. I just want it to feel good and be satisfying to play.

I answered my own question anyway. I decided to pick up the following year's FIFA (2013) as the reviews were extremely positive. It was very cheap, and I have to say, it seems to me to be a huge step up from FIFA 12. It was really worth the purchase. Everything feels and looks that bit better, and it's much nicer to play. I suppose you could argue it's the same game, but the layer of polish seems to me to absolutely make the difference to what was already a strong game of footie.

Hope I haven't dragged things off topic...

I played that a couple of years ago and loved it as well. Can understand why it's not everyone's type of game though.

Yeah I agree my type of game, though can't see it being on Rockstars list for a sequel.

Replaying Bioshock for the first time since release and it's still a fantastic game!

Wow I am surprised. Not being a big fan of Saints Row The Third since I felt the game had lost direction and had far too many restrictions and cut-backs compared to SR2, yet Saints Row IV is brilliant. Who needs GTA clones these days anyway?

Now, IMHO this is a lot more fun than GTA V, it's like Volition have taken the best parts from all of the top sandbox games and melded them into one single package of pure win. Reminiscent in many respects to Crackdown, InFamous, Prototype, Just Cause 2 and GTA. All the gameplay mechanics are on point, from the shooting, driving/flying to the platforming sections.
