If I had tried that on with my cat I'd have been scratched to pieces. I hope he disinfected the sink out afterwards. Does anyone else have a cat who doesn't mind being bathed? I've only ever known cats to go mad when put near water.

This might sound harsh but I used to wash my cat with a hose-pipe.

It was probably kinda unpleasant but so is having a cat in the house that's been rolling in something nasty.

We used to bath the dog once or twice a year but I'd never heard of a having a bath until I came across that video.

It's not particularly common - but you do occasionally get a cat that's OK with water.

We had 5 cats some years ago, and one of our tribe was fine with water - he would paw the bathwater when I was in there, I splashed him several times, with no adverse reaction - and I once saw him actually sitting IN a 3" deep puddle in the garden.
I never actually tried bathing him - but I reckon I could've got away with it without claw-marks.

My cat used to swim. Possibly as the result of growing up with a labrador who is mad about water.

Trouble was that he'd always find pools of manky stagnant water and come home covered in pond-scum and smelling manky, thus requiring the hose-pipe again.

FWIW, I've heard people say that cats usually go into water if they're infested with something and are trying to get rid of it.
Our cat was a very well-looked-after persian though. He just seemed to like water for the yucks.

One of our cats likes to jump in the shower just after one of us has had one, and play in the puddles.

I've also had something similar happen
One of our other cats once slipped into the bath while pawing at suds.
Landed between my feet, and ran up my left side and round my back in his panic to get out - and yes, I did have to get out due to reddening bathwater.

That kid was lucky not to end up with some serious claw marks.

Sad thing is that if the poor moggy had clawed at the kid he'd probably have found himself down at the local animal shelter because he wasn't "safe" around the toddler.

We bath out cat every now and then. She doesn't mind too much, more like resigned acceptance.
Mind, nothing much phases her. She even pops out to see what's going on on bonfire night, comes on walks, jumps in the car and has attacked a police dog before now.

I think it's her breed, Burmese. They get on well with people, I'd never have a non oriental breed cat now.

When she had kittens (6) we had to bath them too, when they got to age where she was getting a bit swamped keeping them clean and they were just that bit too small to manage themselves.
Now that was funny.
Six little drowned rats, first bundled up in towels, and after some vigorous drying, turning into indignant balls of sticky out fur.
Followed by an orgy of licking themselves, each other, us, as they dried off in front of the fire.

Although to be honest, if I tried it with two of mine I'd have no skin left on my arms. The other two though are great in water, they're like a pair of bloody otters.

I bathed a cat once. It took two of us and a pair of marigolds each. A quick dunk, wash and rinse and out come a large rat that decided to have a good shake, even though we'd towel dried him, obviously not well enough. Not something I'd make a habit of though.

I've owned and been around cats for my entire life and have never been inclined or known anyone who was to bathe them. My last cat Flynn lived to 20 years, not once did bathing her come to mind.

Cats are naturally very clean and hygenic animals, why go through the stress?

One of mine likes to slink off down to the garage and roll about in oil for some reason. Don't ask why, he just does. Then again, I do suspect he's mental anyway. Once, for no reason whatsoever, he sat in the yard squawking for attention, then when I went out to see what all the fuss was about he just gave me that cockeyed look they give you and legged it right the way up the drainpipe to the roof and got stuck. He spent the whole night up there, peering over the edge meowing.

I guess it depends on what part of their genetic memories are intact.

Dunno if you know this (so excuse me if I'm teaching you to suck eggs) but the reason that animals roll in crap is that back when they were wild they would roll in crap so in order to mask their own scent and make it easier to hunt a prey animal.
If you want to hunt sheep, for example, you roll in sheep-shit and then none of the sheep will be able to smell a mountain-lion stalking them.

My cat, Benny, was half-persian so he had a beautiful coat and he did a great job of keeping himself clean but he was also a hunter and, as a result, he'd often wander into the house smeared in various things.
I'm sure he would have gotten himself clean eventually but it was often hard to stomach the smell.

He used to climb in through the kitchen window and then stand in the kitchen doorway moaning as if to say "Okay, I'm a mess. I know you're gonna wash me and that's not gonna be fun for either of us so just get on with it".

I've had to wash my cats' paws when they've trodden in something in the litter tray.

They'll sit on the edge of the shower cubicle and go in afterwards to lick up the drips, but they'd rip my arms off if I tried to bathe them.

Exactly. My cat is forever grooming herself as she's fairly long haired.

I wouldnt dream of trying to give her a bath. I'd have one less layer of skin by the end of it all

One of mine loved water; actually used to chase the water from a hose, obviously thought watering the garden was a game played for her benefit. She grew out of it eventually.
