Sagem/Manhattan FreeSat+ boxes any good?
I was reading the post below about the Sagem FreeSat HD boxes and I need some information for my cousin.
She is eligable under the Switchover Scheme and she plans on getting the FreeSat DTR, I have been emailing the Switchover people on her behalf (she is not on the web) and they have told me it would be either a SAGEM or a Manhattan DTR (HD) As I have not heard of Manhattan and have very little knowledge of SAGEM, can anyone tell me if they are any good or are they very cheap and nasty boxes, its just that she is disabled (wheelchair user) and I just want to prepare her for any problems that may arise thank a lot SS1964 Or has anyone got one of these DTRs and can tell me any good/bad points they may have? |

I've got the Sagem.
I've been very pleased with it. Great picture and some good features like prompting you to record in HD if the program you selcted to record is also broadcast on HD. It rarely misses a recording and rarely needs a hard reset (but they all do now and then). Minor bad point - no ability to search the guide for a particular program but they offer this on their Freeview boxes so I guess it will come with a future firmware update... |

The OP's cousin - I think the switchover people supply cheap Non PVR boxes. I quoted derekb1 who clearly thinks they will.

Hey, read the thread.
The post to which I responded did exactly the opposite and as I don't re-read the entire thread every time a new post is added it didn't seem to make any sense. |

Have had a Sagem dtr94500 for a while now and am also pleased with it. It's very easy to use, very reliable and since we use it in England and in Spain, find its very quick set up to be a bonus. Incidentally, it has a better tuner than the Sky boxes we have. It also has a much faster teletext access than the Sky boxes, so there!
