Fans of Biffy (epecially fans of pre "puzzle" Biffy) can't go wrong with....
Hundred Reasons ....... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OuntrAcZU4w http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_3xHj_WKFU and Hell is for Heroes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2W2rD1oUWWk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3Tnk...eature=related The allready mentioned Fighting With Wire are brilliant, basically an Irish Biffy (and I mean that in the best possible way). For Post-Hardcore more broadly I would personally recomend having a listen to ...... At the Drive in ..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7NYbojdoAQE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_lXPrCpSVE (live version ... I think you need to see the live energy of ATDI to truly appreciate how crazy they were.....) Funeral For a Friend http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LfzwQ...eature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ahEs1BR5gg And Perhaps even ...... Finch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hSFenbeugA and Alexisonfire http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUPOpH-yYiw By the time you get to Alexis and Finch its probably not that like Biffy, but I love Biffy and I love these bands, so they're worth a listen. |

Sucioperro are a band that you'd probably like, they've been known as "Biffy-lite" since their debut album. JP Reid from the band has a joint project called Marmaduke Duke with Simon Neil from Biffy and they are from the same place, Kilmarnock
They have two albums, Random Acts Of Intimacy which is a good album but it's surpassed by the brilliant Pain Agency which was released in 2009. They are due a 3rd album called The Heart String & How To Pull It which I think is due for release in February but they are a band who tend to move release dates. I love Biffy but I really think these guys deserve some sort of success as I don't really want to see them go the same way as another Scottish band I liked, Aereogramme who split up a few years ago but sort of came back as a band called The Unwinding Hours (possibly another one to check out) although they are much slower and atmospheric than Biffy are another band to check out is Twin Atlantic who are another band who have that sort of Biffy sound and are from Scotland. They've had an EP out a few years ago and a mini album out September 2009 called Vivarium. They also have a new album due for release this year called Free which will hopefully be out in the Spring http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWtVMHx_WR8 Sucioperro - Liquids from Pain Agency http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHz3GvKJ-xY Sucioperro - The Crushing Of The Little People from Random Acts Of Intimacy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJCaOUV_krA Twin Atlantic - Audience And Audio from A Guidance From Colour (first EP) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdvEUwUj8zY Twin Atlantic - You're Turning Into John Wayne from Vivarium I think Fighting With Wire are due a new album this year as well (seems everybody is though as even Biffy are due one themselves), been a while since Man Vs Monster which was a really good album

Frightened Rabbit are quite similar to later Idlewild in terms of being a quite folky Scottish indie band.

Roddy Woomble has been doing some really nice stuff with Kris Drever and John McCusker which you might consider listening to
Before the Ruin www.amazon.co.uk/Before-Ruin-Kris-Drever/dp/B001EINVNK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1295521854&sr=8-2 and with John McCusker's Under One Sky ( with others including John Tams and Graham Coxon) http://www.amazon.co.uk/Under-One-Sk...5521933&sr=1-1 |

I'd highly recommend Anberlin if you like those two bands.
Anberlin - Cities - The Unwinding Cable Car (Alt Rock) Birds Of Tokyo - Universes - Silhouetic (Alt Rock) Secret And Whisper - Great White Whale - XOXOXO (Alt Rock/Post Harcore-ish) pmtoday - In Medias Res - People Are Machines (post hardcore) Sixstarhotel - Tides and Tides - You're A Phoenix, I'm A Grave (Indie/rock) Jimmy Eat World - Clarity - Lucky Denver Mint (Alt Rock) Brand New - Deja Entendu - Me vs. Maradona vs. Elvis (Alt Rock/Indie/Post Hardcore) I second the Twin Atlantic, Alexisonfire and At The Drive-In recs if you like the Vertigo Of Bliss era of Biffy. |
