All Leona needs is a catchy, quality, up-tempo song that has a good marketing campaign and an original and captivating video to accompany it. If she has that, I'm sure she can smash the charts on a global scale again.”

Totally agree, the problem she had with Happy is it just didn't have a beat to it, it wasn't really a song you could hum in your head, whatever they release as the first single has to have that foot tapping head humming thing about it.

I always think of Kylie's "Can't get you out of my head" it just has that thing that once you've heard it you can't forget it. Even if you hated the song you couldn't help humming along to it!!!

Forgive Me has that, especially the live version as does BIT, in fact BIT is a good example for amid tempo track with a really good 'get inside your head' beat to it, it's not fast (although the rocked up version really does the business) but it has that thing about it.

I agree snoopy. I don't really post in the Alexandra thread for the same reason. And because a certain poster keeps making really repetitive digs at tons of people.”

Yes Don't Stop the Music! That sort of song would be brilliant too. Scene of the Crime was just so perfect (well it could have done with a bit more work but a finished version would have been completely perfect)

I agree, it was Jessie J recently! How can you hate on the lovely Jessie J, she's incredible!

And I agree with Rodney, I did not like Can't Get You Out of My Head when it came out at all, but it's so infectious and in that way it's the perfect pop song. I wan't a song that catchy, but one I really like I also hope it's not a song that gets old quickly or you can get bored of quickly. Only Girl I got sick of really fast, whereas I'll never get sick of What's My Name. So need to find a balance between it being catchy but not so much that it gets old too quick, especially with this new download-as-soon-as-its-on-the-radio thing.
Forgive Me has become one of my favourite Leona songs after the tour.

OT - Only 11 posts until I hit 1000! I'll make sure to post it here

Yeah that's what killed 'Happy' unfortunately. The beat was it's heart and it just didn't have one so failed to ignite in the charts.

Yes that's a brilliant example! Obviously Leona would need something far more current but nobody can deny CGYOMH is catchy as hell.

If I'm totally honest, I still think 'Better In Time' is quite a weak song. It's lyrically uplifting and all but it's quite bland. Inoffensive but uninteresting.

Ahh snoopy, I think i'm gonna hate this download-at-radio-premiere idea. Surely it'll make weekly sales incredibly poor?

See I don't agree with that, BIT is a catchy song it's a sing a long song, it has a very simple hook, it's also a song that Leona manages to really nail live, it doesn't have the massive Leona vocals in it but it's a very cute song.

The rocky version is brilliant.

Yeah I'm aware of that, it's just a bit safe. There's no real edge. It's great live though with the electric guitars and all.

I'm hoping for an up tempo song for the first single. I wouldn't mind something like Only Girl or When Love Takes Over. A chorus with a big powerful vocal would be really good.

That's great news!

It's all because of the way she's been marketed in the past (as a ballad singer) that gives her all this critical acclaim from people inside the industry. Britney might be able to repeatedly release electro-pop autotuned songs and get instant hits but Leona gets the praise from the likes of Jessie J, Nicki Minaj and far far bigger stars due to something that is actually hers - her voice.

Now this is the type of song I could see Leona doing. It actually sounds like her too, the ad-libs are 100% Leona.

Aaw I love her! She's so odd, although seems so normal in this interview

I'd love them to do something together, Nicki is a huge upcoming star. And she's Lil Wayne's protegee, Leona has a link with him already

I'd be so so so happy with a song like When Love Takes Over, always wanted Leona to record a song like that, but it did quite poorly in America didn't it?

Oo I like this! It'd be amazing for her to feature on a song to keep her in the spotlight. And Wynter does sound like Leona on certain parts of this song!

It'd be a good type of song for her to feature on but, as you've pointed out, WLTO failed to smash in America.

America hasn't taken to actual dance music yet unlike Britain and a song like that wouldn't do Leona any favours in the US.

'Only Girl (In the World)' is where it's at though imo (know you disagree snoopy ). Just the perfect dance/pop record.

It would be immense. I'd probably believe it was Leona if I wasn't sober, it's uncanny at times. Goes to show her voice could be perfect on mellow dance tracks if she ever wanted to record some in the future. I want a nice euphoric sounding lead single with non-suicidal lyrics. Is that too much to ask for?

That would be a perfect song for Leona, and blimey she sounds very much like Leona in parts. I think this would be the correct direction to go for the first single, something like Only Girl in the World, When Love Takes Over, Commander, Firework which are great belting songs, then something like What's My Name/ Te Amo or Don't Hold Your Breath by Nicole for the second single.

Although WLTO didn't do well in the US, it could be just that there not feeling Kelly Rowland. Every song she releases over there never does well. Only Girl got to No.1 and those songs are just as dance as each other.

I like Wynter Gorden and got quite a few of her songs. I never thought that she sounded like Leona until you guys started saying it, now I can see it.

She's done a song called 'RIght Here'. I'd say it's a mid tempo and could see Leona singing it, maybe as an album track. There's a dance remix too.

Wynter Gordon - Right Here

Wynter Gordon - Right Here (Famties Remix)

I'd like to hear Leona's vocals on that. I'd think it'd be good.

Same I love Wynter Gordon. Insomnia's my favourite song of hers

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUZJNaIFQvk

And I like that song

Agree with Saz on that list.

And Only Girl's alright, I wouldn't complain if she had a song like it, it's just a bit generic I want another unique song; set the trend rather than follow it. That's one thing I think Leona's good at; BL definitely set a trend with the big Tedder ballads and Run suddenly made female singers love indie covers (in the UK anyway)

I hope Leona gets acountdown timer to her single/album release like GaGa has http://www.ladygaga.com/bornthisway/index.htm. It would just help build anticipation and excitement to the next era. At the moment releases just seem like a non event, especially the IGY video .

I quite like Nicole Scherzinger's song, 'Cold'... It's probably not the strongest material for a first single, but it'd be a nice album track (hypothetically if Leona had recorded it haha).

If they use RedOne on this album I'll be highly disappointed. He's SO overused now, it's unreal. They need to have a mix of up-and-coming producers/writers, and ones who have experience too. Pretty much like Autumn Rowe, I'm trying to think who else... maybe Alex Da Kid, his stuff's quite fresh and would be quite 'shocking' for Leona, I guess. I mean could you see her doing Massive Attack? haha

Also the fact Nicki Minaj has shown an interest in Leona's voice is good, it might be interesting to get her on a track for a small rap verse? I know she's not everyone's cup of tea, but it'd probably help keep up her 'rep'.

I wouldn't count on it, this is the OS we are talking about remember. The infamous OS. I honestly don't think we have a long wait now, it can't be much longer. The gap from "Run" to "Happy" was about 9 months, and it's already been over 11 months since IGY was released. In the US it's been 16 months since her last single! For most people in the US it will be the first single they've heard since BIT lol.

Yes I bet most Americans never even knew the awful (hey lets pick the worst track off Spirit and release it as a single in America) IWB was a single.

That's why it's so important that they get a track radio wants to play AND Leona does the full works in terms of TV and radio.

If they just throw out a half assed record and don't do proper promo I'm going to cry

Just been (purposely) playing 'Can't Fight It', 'Pulse' and 'Stay'(Uptempo version)' whilst my sister was hanging the washing around the house lol. She asked me if it was new and I think she was kinda surprised with the type of songs (in a good way). I know it was only my sister lol, but it just goes to show a little change in tempo can really make people pay attention. My sister isn't particularly a fan so I'm glad she took notice.

Same! Though mine switches off everytime I mention Leona. I may drop into conversation that Nicki Minaj is obsessed with her, seeing as she loves Nicki Minaj
