Albums that are re-released

With new tracks etc - will Ellie Gouldings debut be known as Lights or Bright Lights in the future?, Gaga's The Fame or The Fame Monster? and also with new album covers - what will be known as "the one". In the past you had 1 album, 1 cover (apart from a few exceptions)

I can understand some reissues, like Exile On Main Street last year, but this current trend of re-releasing albums with a few extra tracks a year after release is ridiculous, with maybe a DVD of the videos () to boot

An EP released on it's own is fine, but having to buy the original album with that is stupid, as we had with The Fame Monster last year, and Good Girl Gone Bad: Reloaded before that.

Lady Gaga's album is different to a normal re-release though. In most countries it was released, charted and certificated as a separate album / EP whatever, from The Fame. However for some reason in the UK it was sold, charted and certificated along with The Fame.

Same goes with Ke$ha's Cannibal, Justin Beiber's My Worlds 2 and Robyn's Body Talk 3, all released on their own in other countries, all released as a re-release in the UK.

Also Taio Cruz 2nd album has been re-released with tracks from the first + Higher....does he class it as album 3 or a compilation.
The art of the album as a whole entity is dying out - it's becoming a collection of songs slapped together, any new song welcome

I there something wrong with the UK music scene?

Something always seems to be worse there.

What annoys me is when they only add on like 4 new songs.

Sufficient for a £1.99 EP cd.....not a full reissue, if that`s the case...

cynical marketing ploys I shouldn`t wonder.

Interesting.

The Fame is £4.49 while the Fame Monster [2 Disc Version] is only £3.99.
