I am loving the new judges ( I've surprised myself ) The first few years I really liked Simon, but he became what he is often accusing others of - cliched (sp?) boring, predictable etc. now watching this season I am left thinking Simon who?

New judges are fantastic and the chemistry between them all is brilliant, makes us realise now how dull Simon and Kara were

I still love the new judges. Really love them, and after just 3 episodes I would feel quite sad if we had to lose either of them. I really hope they will stay with the show at least 10 years!

However, there is a little something lacking without Simon. He was a bit sulky and stroppy at times and didn’t mind telling it as it was, even if he came across as arrogant. And I miss that contrast on the panel. Now we have three happy, upbeat judges and there isn’t a lot of contrast in their mood.

I'm preferring the judges this series. So glad to see the back of
Kara, I thought she was pretentious and so overly intense that it seemed fake.

Loving Steven and surprised at how much I like J-Lo.

I like both Steven and Jennifer and think that theyve taken to it so well that Randy seems like the only one who looks a bit out of place on the panel now! I do love Randy though, obviously.

Completely loving it this series. Awesome.

Loving the judges line-up this season, probably the best line-up so far imo. I'm really enjoying this season's idol and I've always found it hard not to lose interest but so far so good, I've got a good feeling about this one.

I am new to following American Idol. I did catch *bits* of the previous series with SC, Paula Abdul and Rrandy ....

But this year am attempting to watch properly

STEVE TYLER = wow!

(Well that's what Tyler himself says all the time!)

Tyler is hilarious ..... and a refreshing change from most talent show judges. Especially when he pulls faces, or falls asleep with boredom on JLo's shoulder!

.
never seen the two new judges before. the man looks like he has been mummified.

Must Google to find out who he is.

I have only watched half of one of the programmes and I thought it reeked of desperation allowing so many 'sob' stories: thought it was about singing ability...silly me.... Also, Randy Jackson is a shadow of his former self without Simon to bounce off or get at.

Randy has lost his spark.

Steve Tyler, singer from Aerosmith - rock royalty.

Totally disagree about Randy, I think he's completely on form this season, for the first time in quite a few years, actually enjoying his input instead of wanting to throw things at the tv.

The sob stories were ridiculous I will agree, ramped up to an awful degree.

I love Steven Tyler - he's a hoot!! This season feels so much more fresher and interesting already. And Jennifer is just too gorgeous for words.

I agree about Idol being better than XF, but that may have a lot to do with Simon. I was growing so bored with his schtick, and haven't missed him one little bit. In fact, I haven't even given him a single thought all the while when watching the auditions.

Who knows, maybe if he doesn't sign on for XF UK this year, I may even enjoy it again.

I'm really enjoying AI this season, I'm impressed by Steve Tyler and JLo, was always a fan of Randy, so it's all good.

It's also a blessed relief not to haven to listen to the same old sayings of Simon "I didn't like it....(pause for dramatic effect)....I loved it".....

The new judges are totally fab.

I'm still really impressed with J-Lo - she comes across as normal, down to earth and not at all patronizing and egotistical (which I didn't expect!).

Steve - well what can I say I just LOVE HIM SO MUCH he's absolutely great, it's all about the music for him. Love his expression when someone is singing and he closes his eyes and 'goes off' somewhere. He's so good to watch.

Randy - well - brilliant as usual and he's shining a lot without Simon there on hand to belittle whenever he can.

Hated both Steven and J Lo for the first couple of episodes; warmed to them now. They certainly bring a new dynamic and new thoughts on what they see as talent. Hated how it was always about Cowell's view and he only liked commercially viable contestants. Plenty of talented musicians out there who were not willing to sell their souls in the pursuit of riches.

I have to disagree about Randy. Seems like he's really loving this season.Steven Tyler is brilliant. I just love him. J-Lo too is completely down to earth and I love her too.

Didn't think I'd like the series without Simon, but have to admit its better (well in my opinion)

Just loved it in the middle of Hollywood week when Steven was telling a few contestants whether they were staying or going home. The way how he started the job and all of a sudden asked for some coffee and then managed to cut the wrong people. Just so funny to watch

He's going to be golden on the live shows

I'd imagine the producers are currently stocking up on valium in preparation

Its a shame that we might get an edited version here.

As frustrating as he is it misses something without the lugubrious Simon Cowell. :S

Not overly fond of Steven Tyler (Russell Brand effect) but I love JLo <3

The show does seem to work better without Simon.

It feels more American, more authentic, less set-up and there is just a more natural air to it.
