I would probably not click the link above. It could be one of those spam-virus things?

Like Steve and Randy but not Jennifer I would have prefered an Irish singer and Phil Collins as a side Judge.

I didn't really start seriously watching until they got to Hollywood, but from what I've seen I'd agree with this, it all feels much fresher to me.

Love Steven, Jennifer is great and even Randy seems more on the ball this season

Hope it continues into the next rounds.

I think Jennifer will become head judge. Randy is a lot better this year but i noticed Jennifer was the one giving out most of the advice to the contestants. Steven will be Steven hopefully. I just hope he doesn't struggle in the live shows.

I love the new panel. I've always preferred Idol to X factor anyway but it's got even better.
It now seems like a competition to find a great singer rather than a vehicle for the increasingly tiresome Simon Cowell to further inflate his ego. Three musicians/singers judging a singing competition, who would have thought it...

Love it this year, last year I really half heartedly watched it, but this year it is really buzzing along, ADORE Stephen Tyler, and do I miss Simon.. Simon who! AI before was a vehicle for SC's ego.. this is just so much better.

I agree with Jennifer becoming head judge - which comes naturally to her IMO. She is brilliant at dishing out advice without being patronising

So... you're just here, in a forum about an American show, to talk about how much you don't want to talk about American things?

Has there EVER been?

Oh, don't worry. Neither of them is anyone special. Relative unknowns, they are!

Getting further into the series I am really impressed by Jennifer. I really didn't expect her to be so good a judge and I am still loving Steven. Can't wait for the live rounds now after being a bit 'meh' with Idol last seasons.

Have to agree she's really really genuine and I like her a lot.

Steve is so funny I love him. I also think Randy is so much better without Simon there.

Gosh it's so refreshing this time isn't it?

Positive, enthusiastic judges who actually know what they're talking about, a very decent level of talent, encouragement for singers to do original material, knowlegable music producers behind the scenes and the deeply scarey Peggi Blu vocal coach - what's not to like

I'm loving the new judges.

Randy seems to be more himself now Simon isn't there squashing his opinions.

And finally we get judges who actually FEEL music and LOVE music and know about music and select contestants who also FEEL, LOVE the music and can actually sing.

I am totally impressed by the professionalism and talent of the auditionees. Especially the ones who are SO young!
A very impressive array of talent on this show.

Anyone know if the ratings for the show have gone up or down from last year's?

Averaging around the 23 million mark.
Just under 22 million last week. They have went up against bigger shows this year like Survivor, Modern Family and the big bang theory. The ratings are doing really well for going up against these big shows.

The ratings last year dropped to under 20 million this time last year.

That's good then!

I love Jenniffer she is an amazing judge and is sexy as hell!!! i still can't believe she's 41!!! She's soo natural and she has the right balance of being maternal to being honest and stern!!! She reminds of Nicole Scherzinger when she was on XF!!!

She makes cheryl cole look completely clueless when she gives her advice because she knows exactly what she's saying and what she wants in a contestant!

I really like the new judges and I wasn't expecting to like them as I've never been a fan of either of them. The show is way better without Simon Cowell's ego hanging over everyone like a dark cloud.

It seems so much fresher. It feels like they actually care. Unlike on the UK XF, where its all about cowell and biffa. It feels less set up although some contestants are being pimped.

You said everything I wanted to say, especially the bit about Simon. I can only add that Randy is far more relaxed, not just repeating cliche after cliche. A panel of three is much better in any event, more time for constructive comments from everyone, not just rushing everyone else along so Simon gets the most time.

I loved the new judges during the auditions but I wasn't overly impressed with the live show vibe.

They all seemed to have roughly the same opinions and the same things to say about everyone. Even when they differed there was no repartee.

It just seemed to lack something compared to the old lineup.

Still, it's early days yet...

Fine, but let's remember that AI is a show invented by a Brit, produced by a Brit, and for 9 seasons, starring a Brit.

Yes, it was much better with editing. Simon was sometimes TOO harsh but there doesn't seem to be much contrast anymore. Randy was the only one to disagree with the other two sometimes. And Jennifer needs to shut up and let Randy talk.

I like the new judges although I wish they gave more in depth feed-back, but I am not sure that it is part of the role assigned by TPTB.
