i got a 5 month old jack russel yesterday and he wont do any toilet movements in 23 hours hes had one wee and that was during the night on a puppy training pad, i took him for a long walk mid afternoon yesterday and nothing.

ive had him out lots of times round the streets where theres also lots of grass areas ive tried my front and back garden but he does nothing i am getting worried and concerned i dont want him to make himself ill.

what can i do, i got him from a breeder who most the time just took him out in her garden

I would take the dog to the vets for an all round generally health check to rule out anything tomorrow morning.

Also why are you using puppy pads. I wouldn't go down that route, it will confuse the dog and could cause you more hassle in the long run. The walks and frequents chances to go into the garden are enough.

I could be that if the dog was only previously kept in the garden, they feel unure and nervous about marking anywhere else and are saving themselves for when they do go back to their usual spot. It may time time for them to feel secure with you. When you do see the dog toileting or looking as if they are about to praise and praise so they connect toileting with good things.

Also what was the previously owner feeding, does the dog appear otherwise 'happy and healthy'?

the training pad was just really for the first night, we got the same food hes used to and hes settled in really well, my wife has text me saying hes had a huge wee so hopefuly its just a case of him being in a new place. i will see how he goes today and maybe take him to see a vet if hes still not been.
