Hi
Can anybody help

Have foxsat HDR box, and can't get i player.
Connected with ethernet cable to BT homehub 2.0.
Cable is 15m Cat 5.e, no firewall on router and router is auto detect (according to BT).
Have contacted Humax, who told me to try the basics, re-boot, swap cable ends round etc, still not workimg.
On I player channel, just says 'no internet connection detected'
Sorry if this is covered on another thread, but thuis problem is driving me nuts.

Look at the eithernet connection at the rear of the humax box - check that you see a green connection indicator by the socket - this indicates a electrical connection.
I don't know the BT home hub - it may have indicators as well,
It is possible that the cable is faulty or (if green indicator lit)that the home hub has not allocated it an IP address.
Do you have a different cable to try?

As I player was one of the big reasons for me to get Freesat (yes caldrim) I can say my Foxsat PVR is linked to my Home Hub 2 via Homeplugs. For me it was just plug in and play. I did have the PVR by the HomeHub at first and again all was well. So it should work. You just need to try a process of elimination. Same cable into a different device. Different cable etc.

I have exactly the same problem, connected to router, router has issued IP and I can ping the Humax box. I work in I.T. so I know it's connected and working but I still get the message 'no internet connection detected'.

I have emailed Humax support but does anyone else have any suggestions?

If you go to the menu, and check the network details, what exactly does it say? You're set up for DHCP or static IP? Do you get a valid IP address, default route, DNS server address and all that?

If everything is not right then it won't work, like if you haven't got your broadband router as your default route.

And you have a recent firmware version on your box?

Have up to date software, and in network menu DHPC nothing shows after i hit apply, all the codes just stay at 0.0.0.0.,as i don't see any green light thingy on my box, i will buy a new ethernet cable, to at least rule a problem with a dodgy cable.
Can i enter IP address and all other info manualy on networking menu, and if i can, where do i find this info ?

I have exactly the same problem. I finally got round to trying out iPlayer having had the box for some time.

I'd be interested to see if anyone has a solution to this issue before I try to contact Humax myself.

Well if you can ping the HDR OK then it has to be one of the following::
Name server problem / Route to internet

No green light indicates no electrical connection - replace cable.

I've occasionally had a problem getting iPlayer to launch, including the very first time I tried it. That was with the box tuned to BBC1. I cured the problem by switching to BBC2 instead - I've always found that it worked on one or the other, never failed since.

iplayer now has it's own channel nos on the epg. Only the iplayer beta required the red button to access

Why go to 901 and press red when you can just press red then Ok on a BBC channel. this post and the whole "901 is not working" thread are bizzare.

Presumably because the route via the red button won't always exist, otherwise why bother with a seperate epg entry ?.

Incidentally access via the epg is the only way into the itv player beta.

Will it be a bizzare thread when the red button option is removed and there are still access problems No!!
I also bet that you would be one of the first to complain!!

Do you have the latest firmware on the Humax? ISTR network access was added in an upgrade. Currently it's HPRSFCI 1.00.13

I would complain if they remove the option to access iPlayer via the red button of course. Any loss of functionality would be regrettable. But it is bizarre that people use a long winded way to access iPlayer. Why do you do it??????

Just cant see the point of it.
This is a Freesat+ forum so presumably posters have the option to record programs they want to watch.
Why suffer VHS (or even worse!) quality viewing when if you can be ar.ed you are able to record in HD or good quality SD?
The use of such players will surely slow the Internet down to a crawl if it becomes widespread.
As you say, Just my opinion!!!!

I don't do it!!!!!
I access Iplayer using my Panasonic TV so simple and much quicker than using my Humax Foxsat.

Quality is not too bad - depends how big your telly is I suppose but I am more concerned with content than picture. iPlayer is a brilliant addition for Freesat.

terrykl - can you get HD on your Panny?

No just the HQ option.Still it gives an excellent PQ.Much better than the humax and as I said in an earlier post for some reason it is so much quicker to actually access and watch a programme.
