Do you guys prefer Katy Perry now or do you wish she were more like she was in the beginning?

I personally can't stand her now both musically and personality-wise. I remember in 2007 looking for her on youtube with these dark videos made in a club of her singing and playing her guitar. She used to make vlogs all the time which I loved. When ever I see her now she seems to have a bloated and her songs are pure trash.

I agree she has become more mainstream now, whereas before she came across as a singer songwriter type of girl. Fairplay to her though, she's doing well with what she's doing so can't fault her.

Um. What do you mean? Her first song was 'I Kissed a Girl' remember.

The stuff from her new album is definitely a step-up from that. 'Firework' is definitely not trash, its a brilliant song. Although, I don't know what she was like in 2007.

She needs to be careful not to pigeon-hole herself into doing the cheeky/innuendo songs that become short-shelf life. Like "I kissed a girl" "California Girls" "Peacock" etc. Yeah, she getting her money but she could also be getting predictable. I really liked Thinking Of You from her last album.

I don't really know much about her or watch her interviews so I don't know how she's changed as a person. Maybe for her third album she should come out with a deeper lead single.

I don't dislike her as a person, but the truth is that she's just a talentless commercial popstar with rubbish songs, aimed directly at the masses to shift numbers. She's just got lucky.

That was my favourite song from that album - very underrated song in my opinion!!

I didn't know of her at all 'til I Kissed A Girl was released; she's ok but I'm not a huge fan. Only songs I like of hers are Hot 'n' Cold, Waking Up In Vegas and California Gurlz (though I Kissed A Girl is an ok song too). I don't know much about her personality though.

I'm listening to Mannequin from her first album now. I think I prefer the first album to the second.

She released a Christian album for One of the Boys and also a lot of singers do hang around the 'underground' scene before they become discovered/signed. So I expect she did a lot on Youtube and other things before I Kissed A Girl.

Sell-out. EVen the first album was a bit of a sell-out from her roots, but the second album is pure pop trash.

Many artists sell-out though, its ntaural. Look at Britney Spear, Avril Lavgine and 30 Seconds To Mars.

xactcly people where complaing about Avril becoming more poppish with album 3, but if she would have copied her other album's she would have got abuse.

Most of the time these artists are evolving (Or there writers are ) and very rarely would i consider an artist to be an actual sell-out. A sell-out to me would be AC DC becoming like S club 7 to get a few number ones.

I much prefer her now. I wasn't much of a fan of her first album. I really can't stand that pop-punk type music, like Avril Lavigne, Pink, Paramore's earlier stuff. Her new album is good but not great. There's some great songs like Firework and ET there, but her voice tends to grate on me quite a lot.

I wasn't much of a fan of her back then. I liked the odd song but I wasn't too fussed when I heard about her.

However, I really like her now. I did like Firework... until it went into overkill But, Teenage Dream is a great album and I found myself a big fan of hers toward the end of last year.

Her vocal capabilities reflect this so much.

They've declined horrifically. ALL of her live versions of Firework suck poorly.

She needs vocal coaching majorly. She used to have stronger vocal skills (albeit still mediocre pop singer range) she's always worked with Dr Luke so her sell-out commercial self has always exsisted but she used total commercial producers for her second album so she clearly has rose as a celebrity and thats the result of pop music.

She had some integrity I guess but most of it is all gone now. Her music is not deep, some of it is personal but for the second album its very likely the personal aspect is in concept, not music or lyrically.

You can thank a friendship with rihanna helping this too. She's a pop singer and thats all we can take her for now and I do miss the old girl but she was a thesbian and used gay as an insult so she was a commercial sell-out when she got the record deal.

I prefer her now. Bought the latest album a few months ago. Some great pop especially Hummingbird Heartbeat and The One That Got Away. Although Hot N Cold is one of my favourite songs. She still is full of attitude. She hasn't actually changed much in terms of character, just music. I like her. At least she has a personality unlike some singers. People say she doesn't have a strong enough voice for Firework, which is true but it works. I couldn't imagine Leona Lewis singing Firework!

It's hard to say which album I prefer, as I adore them both to pieces! I can never get bored of One Of the Boys - there isn't a duff track on there! But I absolutely love Teenage Dream as well - again, I don't skip any tracks.

And also, I don't think she has a big ego at all. She doesn't seem to take herself seriously, and her music videos are always good. However, I really did love the rocky sound on OOTB, whereas TD has more of a pop-punk/electro sound, which is also great. In fact, she reminds me of a female All Time Low. So Wrong It's Right was pretty similar to OOTB, and Nothing Personal is pretty much the male version of TD, what with the song topics and electro tinge.

Totally agree, I think that might be one of her only singles that'll age well. It's a beautiful song. Firework just pains me, I get the message behind it but still. She used to have music videos online that were kind of 'home made' which are hard to get a hold of now.
