Toshiba TV's are good I'm told, I'm getting a Toshiba 24 Inch TV. The one I'm getting looks like an LCD TV from afar cos the speakers are underneath instead of on the sides.

Sony's are good, but more expensive usually.

Anyway, just make sure it's got at least 1 RGB SCART socket for your DVD Player (noticibly better quality apparantly).

Good Luck!

Yes Toshiba set are very good plus reasonably priced (around £430 for a 32 inch model from argos I think). They may be curved screen which puts some people off though.

Don't Toshiba do Flat Screen models? I heard SOME flat screen TV's are NOT TRULY (Super) Flat Screen. Are Toshiba TV's like this?

It might be worth buying it from John Lewis - they offer a free 5 year guarantee on all their TV sets.

Whatever you do, steer clear of the DSG stores.

As far as I know, Toshibas 'budget' range, in this case at least, are the curved screen types but the more expensive crt range are totally flat screen types.
Any toshiba experts may correct me if I'm wrong.

The Philips widescreen we got (24PW6006) is a smashing set.
Don't buy a Philips DVD machine tho, the one I got has been nothing but trouble since I bought it.
Sony TV's are good, we had a 21" one for 15 years before the tube blew, there are ones older than that still going though!

I have a Philips 32" which can be bought for quite cheap now, I bought mine for £500 last year, but I have seen local retailers in NI selling them for £350, or for £500 you can now have the 32" Philips with DVD player and VCR and cinema system. Damn! Should have waited a year!

I bought a Thomson TV from Comet a couple of years ago and its been one of the best TV's I have ever bought. I think it cost me about £599.00 two years ago. http://www.unbeatable.co.uk/CatalogueItem_1074.html
