Metacam an Alternative

Can anyone here help.

My Alsation suffered from panosteitis as a pup and from that still suffers occasionally with lameness in his front right leg.
The normal cure is using Metacam.

I wondered though if anyone knows of a non prescription treatment that they have used with success.

I don't normally come in this forum but I saw your post, I don't know if I will be much help though.

Our dog is a lab, she's getting on a bit now and has problems with her back legs, we put a bit of cod liver oil in her dinner, it does seem to have helped, I also know that a woman at my husbands work who has had dogs for years gives them either an asprin or a paracetamol if they are sore, can't remember which I think it's asprin, I can check if you want as I know there is one you definitely don't give them anyway, she swears by it and claims it hasn't done any of her dogs any harm, she has done it for many years with many dogs - I don't think she's killed any of them off I have been too wary to try that though.

Sorry, I haven't been much help I wouldn't think.

Thanks for that, I have heard about the asprin and will ask the vet and also about the cod liver oil.
