I have this phone, you can unlock it very easily for free, I have upgraded to 2.2 and rooted it. It is an excellent phone for the money. Have a read through the forum in the link below for more info.

The latest 2.2 ROM on MoDaCo is much smoother and faster than the stock Orange ROM. Still even as it comes it is a great phone for the money.

Its reasonably smooth even with the mildly updated 2.1 roms.

Just one caveat, thats been mentioned in plenty of places - the camera really is truly terrible.

Almost wish i still had mine.

yea i heard the camera really bad. thanks for all your replys.

my 02 upgrade ends in march and i find there deals are really poor. im going to go on pay and go now.

the phones i had in mind xperia x8 lg gt540 or san fransico so i think for £89 new the san fransisco is the better phone although the xperia 8 looks nice

The SF camera is poorish for stills and bad for video. The FroYo ROM has improved things though compared to stock. If a good camera on a phone is important then look elsewhere. But remember the SF is only as bad as may phones were a few years ago and look how excited then just to have a camera on a phone. It is still much better than the camera Apple included on the iPhone and iPhone 3G. SOmething had to give for the price!.

Apparently my browser says that site is dangerous and blocked it??

Self unlocking is often thought of hacking so I assume the warning.

Yea you're probably right.

It's probably because phone unlocking could be classed as hacking.

Someone at Modaco made their own code generator, might be better than the other one.

I'd play safe and use the first one.
10's of thousands already have.

I bet it sends your IMEI to nextgen for you so two lots of people have it.

Either way. Someone has it and could report it stolen. (the only risk I assume?)

Reading between the lines people who charged fees might even have reported nextgen LTD to WOT as unsafe.
