Hi All,

The latest edition of the Lidi Leaflet contains a Dolby Digitial 5.1 system for £99.00.

The system is made up of:

2 x 10W Surround speakers, and 75cm high Stands
2 x 10W Front speakers
1 x 10W Center speaker
1 x 20W Subwoofer.
1 x Remote.

From looking at that the picture I'm assuming the Subwoofer is also the amp/where the other speakers connect. Other information from the leaflet:

400W PMPO max output power
Frequency: 20 - 20.000Hz

It also comes with a 2 year guarantee.

Anyone know anymore about this system?.
Does it sound (excuse the pun) like an OK system, given the limited spec vs price?
What's PMPO?

From the picture the speakers all have the word 'CAT' on them.

Thanks

Iain

Unfortunately, I do not know anything about the system in question. However, a point to bear in mind is its connections in order to make it as easy as possible to connect to your existing equipment.

I like the idea of it having a two year guarantee which at least shows the manufacturer's are confident it will not have any problems in the two years.

I am a bit of a Sony fan so I tend to stick with them for equipment. However, for the price of this one and if it had good connections I would consider buying it for my son for his room. He, unfortunately, is becoming as mad about home cinema as I am.

It's great to see shops like Lidl selling the latest technology for prices most people can afford. OK the equipment may not be up to the standard of Sony, Technics et al, but it's good for those who simply can't justify hundreds or thousands on home entertainment. It's also good for people in the mid-range bracket as it helps to lower prices here as well.

It stands for Peak Music Power Output.

PMPO values are meaningless. It is better to consider RMS (Root Mean Square) values.

Have a look at:

for a better explanation.
