I have found this year's dancing on ice to be the worst one so far.I find the skaters are dull and uninteresting.
Compared with years ago this year's can't hold a candle to past one's.
Maybe its like X Factor. Gone on too long and maybe its time to call it a day?

I disagree. I think it's far better than last year when Hayley was the only one worth watching. This year, other than Sam, there are at least 3 others who I believe will reach 28/29, maybe even 30 by the end of the series.

I liked Kieran Richardson, Danny Young and Gary Lucy last year but it was obvious that none of them would win, plus they wern't really that exciting to watch.

Not sure if this is covered elsewhere. - are the actual dance routines shorter this year ? They seem to whizz by in a blink.

But generally it is a lot less entertaining. Shame really.

They're certainly shorter than the ad breaks!

I think this year is the best so far ,most of the celebs are really good skaters , imo there are only about four no hopers left in now.The only thing that is spoiling it for me is how long drawn out the show is, if I hadn't got sky+ I doubt I would have patience to watch...

Must admit I haven't found this series as enjoyable to watch as previous years.

But it's early days yet, there's time for it to improve, and even if it doesn't I don't feel that would be a reason to call it a day.

Most of these series have an 'Off' year (look how everyone moaned about 2009 scd?) but they often bounce back with a vengeance the following year. Unfortunately the producers don't have any real idea how the contestants will turn out until the show actually starts ..... and it must be quite hard to get contestants for doi. Every year the routines seem to get more difficult from week 1, which adds to potential danger. I certainly wouldn't want to do it!

It might be after this weekend!

The twists have been the worst thing about an otherwise enjoyable series so far.

I'd prefer if it double eliminations and voting off your friends was left to shows like Big Brother.

The worst? Yes
A celebration of vulgarity and mediocrity and, at least this week, no performance from T&D to show some actual skating.
I will probably only watch the final now.

I think it's one of the best. Sam may be the best but there are 3 or 4 who could catch him, Laura, Jen and Vanilla Ice are the most likely. There are also some potenially good 'journey' contestants like Denise, Johnson and Jeff.

I also prefer the new judging panel, it's quite clear what everyone is looking for, Robin judges the skating, Jason the dancing, Emma the performance, and they all have the experience to judge that.

Well, everyone complained about the changes on SCD, but the quality of the contenders meant it ended up being one of the best series for ages - so I'm reserving judgement til I see whether the twists get in the way of the reason I'm watching, the skating.

As others have mentioned, the stage is set for one of the best showdowns since the Suzanne/Chris/Zaraah triangle, and I'm looking forward to seeing some great routines. Everything else is filler, and whether it's good filler or bad, it makes no odds to me

No i think this could be a good series reminscent of series 3 when Chris Suzanne and Zaarah were all very good and it was always tough to call, this year we have a few good skaters in Sam, Chloe, Laura, Vanilla Ice & Jen and i can see Johnson being the 'Donal' of this series and improving steadily week on week, it is going to be a really good series imo, they just need to cut out the gimmicks like this twist and bring back the 6.0 marking and a few more skating personalities back onto the panel!

I agree OP.

Maybe it's just because I hardly know ANY of the 'celebs' but I am still finding it no where near as exciting as previous series

disagree in overall talent by far this is the best series ! and there is no denying it !.

we have sam - already possibly one of the best contestants ever !
laura - one of the best and fastest female skaters we have seen in any sereis
jennifer - has a really really good skating technique and can skate on her own could well become the best female in the competition !
chloe - again really fast over the ice, and skates alot in her routines and does is very well !
vanilla ice - once again another good performer and good at skating aswell !

I'm kind of enjoying it - i miss fred - but apart from that its ok - i just dont like the format changes - why give the contestants a vote - its not how it should be - judges all the way.

I am not enjoying this series:

* I miss the Pros's from previous years
*The show is to long
* The 3 celebs that I wanted to watch (Angela, Nadia and Craig) have all gone.
* Only one Judge who has any skating background
* There seem to be more ad breaks than ever before.
And the point about shorter routines is a valid one as they do seem to be over before they have hardly began

ITV would do well to remember If it aint broke - don't fix it!

You've put pretty much everything in your post that i was gonna say, I'm annoyed that the format has been tinkered with too much.

Aswell as the new set, I liked the old one, the old one was more "intimite" i suppose, and Moving the judges desk to practically outta camera shot during routines i don't like either.

I'm still watching for the likes of Laura/Chloe/Sam/Vanilla.

I am enjoying this year's show so far. I like some of the changes and am open minded about the twist until we see how it plays out. We could definitely do with another skating judge on the panel & I miss some of the old pros too although I like some of the newbies.

Last year's wasn't very good & the show was looking tired towards the end. I think people will always moan about change but these shows need refreshing otherwise they become stale.

It's too early to rate this series overall but there are some promising signs. Sam is easily the best at the moment but Laura, Chloe, Jen & Vanilla all look promising - Laura for me could overtake Suzanne & Clare to become the best female skater ever. Johnson is improving & also think Dom & Jeff still have some potential.

One of the worst Sad thing is, it would be by far the best if bloody Sam Attwater wasn't in it as we'd have a wide open competition between Jennifer, Laura, Chloe and Vanilla but I just can't take another one horse race!

Have to agree its becoming tedious having one who is the outright best and the judges star from the very beginning it wears thin as you know who the winner is going to be and for me it spoils the competition and we have had it the last few years it would be nice to have someone win who has actually and I hate to say this had the "journey" and started off ok but improved over the course of the series.

As unpopular as it is I would like Sam to go as that would open up the competition properly and give the others a chance to really compete.

They should never let people on the show who have skated before its just not fair to the others.

It's a shame, because those people in the chasing bunch are all very good by any normal standards, but compared with Sam they end up looking a bit ordinary.

Personally, I think the biggest problem with this year, like last year, is that there are too many contestants. This year I knew less than ever, and a couple have very questionable celebrity. If there were less contestants altogether, it would be easier to get to know the ones that you are unfamiliar with - and the show wouldn't go on for hours and we wouldn't have to miss out on Chris and Jayne's routine.

Now we've got a drawn out "eviction" to pad the results show on Sunday. Why can't we have a routine by the professionals instead?

I could have added Jason Gardener to the mix as well and the new twist is ridiculous, why give the Judges their power to evict one of the bottom two for only one week, then change it all round. I agree that Sam Attwater has pulled ahead of the rest of the field and made the good skaters look like also rans.
Instead of evicting 4 people before they even had a chance to take part why not let the better and more able contestants join the show after a few weeks and give the others a chance to show what they can do!
BBC1 for me on Sunday Night

Greg Rusedski was an excellent skater as he had grown up playing ice hockey BUT he couldn't dance on ice to save his life as he had no musicality or rhythm. So it doesn't always follow that good skaters win.

I bet on T&D's scoring card he would have got A!
