Following the announcement Kerry Katona and Denise were saying 'that's goodbye Laura then'

Schofield put it on twitter and then later came in defence of her with this tweet:

http://twitter.com/#!/Schofe/status/29810716827459584

I'm sorry Phil but you're defending the indefensible and I've lost all respect I had for him and the little respect I had for Denise. As for KK it goes to show that her detractors are almost certainly spot on about her, don't be fooled by the 'poor old me' act. Kerry is a comparatively poor skater and if she continues in it for some time the show will have zero credibility.

I'm not her biggest fan, but it seems likely it was a joke. Kerry said it anyway, so why are you having a go at Denise? There are plenty of things to criticise Kerry for, but this is just lame.

A joke, I don't think so. There are 4/5 threats to her winning Vanilla Ice, Jen, Chloe, Sam and yet she singles out Laura. It was suggested it was Denise as well. How is that in anyway funny and why single out Laura? And you are quite right there are innumerate flaws however this is pertinent to the show, so your assertion of it being lame is lame in itself.

Even if it was a joke..its pretty tasteless, and actually quite revealing.

We don't really know the context. I doubt Philip would have put it on twitter if it had been meant maliciously. They all know it's a competition, and everyone wants to stay in. I don't see what's so revealing about that.

She's said nothing on twitter, the girl is a liability, first the story of her meddling with a married man and then in the lineup when the announcement of the 'twist' was made she pretty much immediately made this comment. Seems like a spiteful and vile thing to do for a woman that begs for another chance 'for her kids'?? Obviously sees Laura as a threat in the show and for other things perhaps, but then she should be threatened as Laura is clean cut and decent and well Kerry.....isn't.

Agree. Actually I tend to find that the old adage 'many a true word spoken in jest' is very very true.

Also, I really don't understand how people can totally misread & misquote something & then get all up in arms about it.

The actual tweet was ...
Schofe Phillip Schofield
Denise and Kerry immediately said they wouldn't do it.
Then Kerry came round to the idea, saying "goodbye Laura then"

..so why on earth has Denise been dragged into it?

We do know the context, it was an immediate/instinctive reaction in the line up. I don't think you have any idea what his (Phil's) motives were when he initially posted it nor would you know if he was told to say it was a 'just a joke' by ITV. I think the issue is that she has singled out Laura, why?

Kerry's response about Laura completely came across as joking to me but, hey, why give Kerry the benefit of the doubt when it's so easy to dislike and criticise her? These are Schofe's tweets on the subject:
I will be posting a series of tweets to tell the tale of 'The Ice Pick'

The celebrities were lined up. Robin walked in from the skating entrance to deliver his news, shouting "IT WASN'T MY IDEA!"

Then he said.. This Sunday, you will all skate to save your place in the competition. The judges will give their scores....

The viewers will vote at the end of the show. The 2 couples with the lowest overall points will skate again in the Skate Off.

The decision of who to save will not be made by the ice panel.

It wont be made by the viewers. It'll be made by YOU. All the celebs who are safe will vote to save one of the 2 couples in the skate off.

It is your chance to save a friend. Or send a rival home. You are skaters ... Now you'll learn what it's like to be a judge.

Denise and Kerry immediately said they wouldn't do it. Then Kerry came round to the idea, saying "goodbye Laura then"

Denise battled over what would happen if the final two were a really good skater or a really good drinking partner! Which way to go? Lol

Vanillas response - 'the skaters have become haters' !

It was all good natured @lisamj_33 ... Kerry was only joking
Robin Cousins then tweeted:
@Schofe it was indeed all good natured and fun. But come Sunday???

If Kerry was with another Pro she would have been out already.
they knew damn well teaming her up with who they did meant long term staying.

ITV PR exercise coming out in defense of her? If it was a joke why not suggest a number of people. She knows Laura is a direct threat both to her in the show and beyond. If you think it was a joke you're naive.

Well, hopefully some good will come of it, in that maybe it'll encourage everyone to pick up the phone and make sure Laura doesn't end up in the bottom two.

And if it DOES happen, and KK votes that way, then she herself could well end up in the skate-off the week after that. It certainly wouldn't reflect well on her at all.

He didn't say it at the time...has an appearance of limitation damage to me.
Actually I'm sure it was said in a joking manner..the only thing is, when 'jokes' like this are made, there is always some intent behind it...think about it.

Of course it's a damage limitation exercise CAN would have been straight on the phone to ITV and then ITV would have called Phil. 'IF' it was a joke (clearly wasn't) he would have implied that from the outset and the fact that Robin Cousins is jumping on the bandwagon makes it look like a stock/contrived PR exercise as they want it to appear as though it gives weight/credibility to the clear back-tracking by Phil.

'Joking manner' - that would be how she'd want it to appear, but with KK not all is as it appears....she's a fraud. No doubt there was intent behind it, as she has picked out the biggest female threat to her both image/career wise.

Or you dislike her so much that you can't see straight when it comes to her. I'm not a fan of Kerry, however, that's a natural joke to make in a situation like that. I'd probably do similar in her position. For all we know, the reason Kerry said Laura was because Laura was standing next to her at the time. If she really meant it the way you seem to believe, she'd be calculating enough not to voice it out loud.

I do dislike her but that doesn't cloud my judgement. I've seen pics of them just before on CR twitter, they were not standing next to each other. She was 'overheard' and I don't give her that much credit, so doubt the fact that other people might have been listening would have even occured to her. You on the other hand give her far too much credit by suggesting she's calculated, she's just mean and fake.

I think she's a bit dense and a liability and that's why her PR seem to take total control of her life (like a cult) - it seems she's incapable of doing anything 'without putting her foot in her mouth'.

Dan is my fave pro by far but I would never vote for him because of that!

I voted for Sam because I thought he was the best. I had no pre-conceived ideas about Kerry - didn't even know who she was - but I think she's a weak skater and so didn't merit my vote.

Last series I did vote for Dan but only because I thought Hayley was streets ahead of the others and deserved to win.

If it's such a natural joke to make, how come no one else made it?

Oh? Someone who'd mean that would have to be "calculating enough" too? How's that work?

You echo my points nicely!

As I said before - if it was a joke why didn't she say 'that's goodbye Jen, Laura or Chloe then'. The fact that she picked out Laura demonstrates that she thinks Laura is a threat and therefore the comment was malicious.

And I agree, she's not intelligent enough to be calculated. She's just nasty.

Loathe or despise her if you feel so inclined - but she's a person not a 'creature' and this inclination by some posters to call her (and other celebs) insulting names (creature, cow etc) or refer to her as Katona actually makes reasonable discussion difficult and improbable.

Ig, I know you love KK, although its incomprehensible, but so much of what she does proves that she isn't a genuine character which I think explains why people are inclined to refer to her with nonhuman terms.
