Yes I like Dan and mostly think hes great, BUT least I know his background and live in the "real" world where thats concerned.

Disagree, I see everything has gone quiet - no mention on twitter, no press releases, which seems out of character. If it was a joke maybe she should apologise. She won't because it wasn't a joke.

Maybe she thinks it's all a fuss about nothing and is waiting for it to blow over.

I suspect if she doesn't feel Laura is offended, then she won't feel the need to apologise for something that hasn't upset anybody actually concerned with proceedings.

If you choose to believe the "we've been best friends for 20yrs story" Yes they knew each other as teens but the story I was told doesnt quite match the one she wanted us to believe.

Its odd how people don't see it or don't want to see it really, love is blind I suppose. Dan is clearly super talented and does a great job in making contestants perform to the best of their ability, so I can see why they would idolise him.....we all need our little fantasy and escapism.

It was quite clearly a joke. You only need to see what she's like in her recent televised interviews to see that she jokes around a lot.

So why didn't he say that from the outset? Why did he 'have' to clarify hours later? Why hasn't she said anything - explanation or apology? Why has no one else 'joked'? Why pick out someone who is a good skater, works in TV and has similar physical traits?

You say joking around, I tend to think she has a habit of putting her 'foot in it'.

He probably thought that people would automatically get that it was a joke. I know I did when I first read it, and I'm not a Kerry fan. If he only "clarified" that it was a joke hours later, then he probably felt like he had to so that people would stop tweeting him about it.

And apology wise, as Lorelei Lee says above, she wouldn't really need to apologise if Laura wasn't offended, which I very much doubt she was.

May I point out that last time Kerry said she was ok when she did the This Morning slurring interview everyone including Philip Schofield could tell that she was not ok, Now when she appears in interviews and says that she is so much better not one person has said oh no she isn't, it is obvious that the girl has done something to change her lifestyle.

I am no fan of Kerry Katona. She's one of those "celebs" that sum up the phrase "waste of space" for me. However, in this instance, it does seem as if those who can't stick her (and I sympathise with the view) are jumping on every little thing. This was clearly a joke; not a very good one but something that many people in that situation might say without thinking. The argument that nobody else said it doesn't mean nobody was thinking it, just that everyone else had the common sense not to voice it. It also doesn't mean that there was ever any real intent behind it; personally I don't think Kerry would ever vote Laura off if it came to it unless she was up against Sam, Chloe or possibly Jennifer.

I'd say this is a non-story about a daft remark made (imo) with no malicious intent behind it.

Exactly. And if Laura is in the bottom two this weekend, and Kerry chooses her to stay over the other celeb, then people on here would be saying stuff like: "She only did that because she knew how bad her comment sounded, so she wanted to look good." She can't win either way.

I read most threads and whilst I've seen many posts sympathetic to her and her past problems allied with the hope that she succeeds in getting her life back on track, I've read nothing suggesting her way of life is worthy of imitation.

On the contrary her mistakes and wayward behaviour are readily acknowledged and should serve as a reminder to all those (young and old) who find themselves the focus of attention that any fall from grace is rapid and publicly humiliating.

She ended up mid table - a very dangerous place to be.

Dan does not choreograph their routines - so perhaps you should be pointing the finger at T&D.

Given how much ITV are reputed to have paid KK to appear on DOI, I would bet any money, this KK remark does not make the edit on Sunday. Why? Because they want to show her in the best possible light and try and keep her in as long as possible.

I neither like nor dislike Kerry but I find the vitriol on this thread incomprehensible. And I loathe the celebs (or anybody) being referred to by surname only.

I loved the way she shut Denise Welch down. When Kerry was asked about the twist mouthy Denise took over and started explaining what the twist was - Kerry stopped her saying 'whose interview is this'. Well done Kerry.
