Or is it Roald, the well-known author? (But he's been dead for a few years too and would be a certain source of food-poisoning, I should think.)

Or is it (courtesy of Google definitions) "small highly nutritious seed of the tropical pigeon-pea plant" and thus some sort of veggie thing?

I've never had dahl; is it nice?”

veggie thing. the peas are usually yellow in colour, but can be made with other pulses such as chick peas
you cook them like lentils and add various spices. can be eaten with rice, or more usually naan breads, and the like
it's very nice

Jason uses some cosmetic of Dans, facewash I think.

Dan wasnt sure if he had enough to last the show. He cant use soap and buys it on the shopping list. Jason tells him theres only 12 days and apparently Dan wasnt going to let him use it (possibly hiding it)

Jason was angry and in a huff in his bed.

Actually my dictionary does have dhal, dal or dholl: "a tropical African and Asian shrub cultivated for its nutritious pealike seed".

I must look out for it. I don't think my local supermarket carries it, though.

One learns a little every day! Well, some days . . .
