This is true. It would be difficult to produce Bootcamp as a genuine reality show, whilst still maintaining the kayfabe of TNA as a whole. Yes, Tough Enough managed that contrast to some degree, but that was a different kind of show.
I think the TOWIE links are purely in the format. Suffice to say, this isn't a bunch of talentless nobodies struggling to realistically play themselves. They're all playing up to their 'characters' - Spud inparticular of course.
Ultimately, I still reckon they'll all end up in TNA. Whilst most reality show competitions are all about finding a winner, I honestly think that in this case that concept has been reversed. I'm convinced TNA have/had already signed all four wrestlers, and created this show as a means to put them over before their respective debuts, whilst also giving TNA some extra publicity in the UK. For one thing, the clearly kayfabe style of it makes it clear there's no actual competition going on here. Also, there's no viewer input in terms of who progresses. And with only FOUR competitors picking just one winner would seem a little redundant. Particularly when you consider that if all four were to join TNA, they'd be split across the mens and knockout divisions so it'll only be two extra competitors in each division.
