I wonder if TNA realize to many negative comments about "the network" on ECW tv hurt ECW's relationship with the network in real life. And it's the same network.

It's no good positng the UK ratings without posting an AI figure too. Millions could be watching it, but we need to see how much they actually like what they're watching.

I watched the last 2 weeks all the way through, but last nights one broke me and I fast forwarded most of it. The positive is the building looked great. The negatives were almost everything else. Even that short match couldn't hide 52 year old Sting's weaknesses and putting the title on him, even if it does turn out to be a short reign, is ridiculous. They could have put it on nearly any other upper midcarder and it would have been better.

It doesnt matter where it comes in the top 10 as long as its maintaining or increasing its own viewership.


Ai's wouldnt work for such a low rated show. The whole score would be based on a handful of people's opinions. I would rather just see how many are watching and whether the numbers increase or decrease each week.


I thought the show was pretty good from a storyline view, wasnt fussed with the wrestling. If you dont like the wedding type segments and that sort of TV then you werent going to like it, it was a wrestling purist's dream show.

TNA still doesnt have the luxury of putting on low attention grabbing matches like WWE with Raw to get viewers watching, They need to stack Impact with title matches and big name matches to keep ratings up.

I read an article this week where Eric Bischoff said he felt PPVs got in the way of the storylines and the number needed to be reduced. All quite true and I suppose if they can make more money from increased ratings on Spike than PPVs then thats the strategy to take.

managed to watch this week's episode tonight and it was actually not too shabby. i like how they're building to the inevitable match for control of the company.

the line "we can do things the easy way or the hard way and in fortune, we like doing things the hard way" made me smile

the title change was a bit flat though - but then I think you could apply that to any match involving sting nowadays. he really can't work a lick now and needs someone to carry him to anything approaching a decent match.

I agree about the pay-per-views. I'd have six maximum, maybe only four.

Well it really depends what you want wrestling to be. TNA is as close to a proper wrestling show as you will get. Having the big promo at the start, the wedding segments, the matches, titles changing hands. Those things should be happening on a pro wrestling TV show. You need some soap opera to it and TNA do need the big matches. They need to keep the viewers every single week. You'll always get people who think everything should be kept for the PPVs but how is that gonna help Impact? So no big matches happen, no titles change hands so........what happens then? Pros vs Jobbers and lots of promos? Not gonna work is it. The real answer is it doesn't matter. The critics of TNA will never be satisfied. They always find something to complain about.

I enjoyed this weeks episode and the crowd made it much better to watch. Didn't like the wedding stuff but does show a good feud between Kurt and Jeff. This has been done before.
They really do need more matches. No wrestling before first ad break every week is a bit much. I like some of the storylines they are working.

I think you can never satisfy critics in general - some people will complain about anything on the internet.

The main issue I have with TNA is it just seems to lack a bit of consistancy. One week I enjoy the show and it seems like a positive step, others it seems like we're going backwards.

Agree that Impact needs big matches to keep the ratings up or they're never going to get anywhere.

They do need to stop 60 odd percent of matches being afflicted with runs in though!

I remember when WWE just had the 4 PPVs a year - easy to get people to buy as they built to them relatively well & people looked forward to them. When both TNA & WWE are doing monthly PPVs how on earth are people supposed to afford them! When both organisations moan about the buy rates, what do they expect? I know they won't change for fear of losing revenue, but if both changed to PPVs every other month, the buy rates would be up & look a lot better against other PPVs (ie MMA). Me personally thinks "oh, another PPV", rather than having something to look forward to.

TNA is being far more positive now, getting out on the road to people who previously couldn't see a live event, that's always good for ratings, as long as they cover the cost. The arena looked good with a lot of people in as well!

I do think the show on Tuesday benefitted greatly from the large crowd. They should try and take Impact on the road as often as they can afford to because you're getting your brand out to as many people as possible and potentially bringing in new viewers as well.

I actually thought the first wedding segment was quite funny - I think Karen Jarrett is certainly channelling Sherri Martel, and doing it quite well.

That first segment with Dixie and Immortal drew a 1.51 rating. If people really didn't care about the soap opera side then they wouldn't have tuned in for it. The wrestling fans online are completely different from the casual fan watching on TV. Eric Bischoff is again mirroring many fans opinons, he wants Impact on the road, he says there are too many PPVs but the decision isn't his to make. How different would TNA be if Eric Bischoff was given control to do those things. It's just a matter of time before one of them does it but who will be the first? Who will be the first company to admit defeat and announce their cutting down on the number of PPVs they have? Eric has the right ideas in mind, he's thinking the same way a lot of fans are thinking but when these things don't come to fruition it's a little unfair to pin the blame on Eric and Hulk. They don't sign the cheques.

Week 1: 134k.
Week 2: 152k.
Week 3: 158k.

The fact that the show's viewership has increased week-on-week, three weeks in a row, and is up 18% on the debut show would seem to be an indication that people are enjoying what they're watching and that more people are being attracted to it too.

Viewership doesn't increase if people don't like a show.

That crowd at Fayetteville was great - the pop for Beer Money was in-sane!

I hope Bischoff/Hogan can persuade Dixie to do more Impacts on the Road, even if it means trimming the wage bill. In fact if they tour the PPVs they could make some money, even if the live broadcast eats that up.

I don't believe TNA gets more money from Spike for every ratings point extra they get, so as long as TNA's ratings don't drop to a dramatic level, Spike are happy. TNA's main goal should be to get people to buy their PPVs. That will bring in extra revenue. Increased ratings will help future contract negotiations with Spike and potentially get them a better deal, but TNAs main issue imo is a need to convert those extra viewers that are watching Impact into buying their PPVs.

SoCalVal did a video promo with Bully Ray prior to tonights ppv, and its so good. Bully Ray is one of the best heels in wrestling today; he doesn't really have any likeable traits, just a total arrogant prick.

I think Bubba has always been a great heel because he really can portray the 'don't give a f**k' attitude very convincingly.

I don't mind the way they've continued the fued by adding Tommy Dreamer to the mix. Sure, it won't be match of the year by any stretch but it could be a decent brawl.

Makes you wonder if they'll try and pull the "tag team partners who hate each other" angle with Bubba and Devon and put the tag titles on them .. I wouldn't put it past Russo ..

Well, as Buck Turgidson in Dr Strangelove said, I hate to judge before all the facts are in, but TNA appear to have just committed hara-kiri on pay per view. I wonder how many peeps who paid $34.95 (currently £21.75) for that will do it again?
