... Can you explain to me what iMPACTS I need to watch since Bravo closed and when and before and after Genesis etc.

I'm glad Ric has sorted out his problems with TNA, The prospect of him being left behind in a foreign country made me laugh though.
I wish i coulda gone to the TNA tour this year, I was in glasgow 3 weeks ago too, so maybe next year lol.

word going around that the younger tna talent didn't want flair back on tour and wanted him released.

His credit cards were declined and thats what started the whole travel/tour issue.

Until we know for certain when the first "new" episode of iMPACT! will air on Challenge, it's hard to work out which episodes relate to which original broadcast.

Making as assumption, If the one on Tuesday 8th February is the first "new" one (and is therefore, the previous weeks Thursday 3rd February edition of iMPACT), then there will be five episodes of iMPACT we missed (30/12/10, 6/1/11, 13/1/11, 20/1/11 & 27/1/11) and only three catch up slots (those on the Saturday, Sunday and Monday), so two appear to have been dropped ... (unless the 8th isn't the first new one, and they intend showing more catch up epsiodes before going on with the new ones ... it's confusing until we know when the first "new" episode airs, as can then work backwards!)

Genesis aired on the 9th January, so in any event, you will see iMPACTs before the PPV gets aired, that aired in the US after it!

Sorry, I'm not watching, but Dixie Carter was supposed to be on SSN, but with Richard Keys resigning, are Sky still doing the interview with Dixie?

She is on next, but her segments probably been cut short.

Jeff could have at least got his facts right .. "TNA uses a five sided ring instead of the traditional square" .. erm, not for the last year or so! .. The obligatory comment "Wrestling isn't really a sport .,, is it?" .. and even then he spent half the interview asking her about the "breaking news" and Keys resignation. Like she knows who he is, or gives a toss lol. I hope she didn't have to travel very far for five minutes!

What you've just described is the main reason I didn't watch this or watch any other time a wrestler / promotion representitive has an interview on Sky Sports.

People talking about wrestling being fake is a little bit old fashioned right now, maybe that is a common trait in Sky presenters and that their views aren't exactly modern.

Jeff Randall with his completely bulls**t facts seemingly unable to grasp it's a scripted franchise, not a sport. Thinking modern performers are sexist, brain dead neanderthal, when most of them are really well educated, intelligent people. Dixie seems nice enough, but she does give the impression of somebody well out of her depth in a cutthroat business. Unlike McMahon, who is obviously an intense individual that doesn't take any crap.

Meltzer would have asked her "Woah Dixie, Vinnie Ru must be really good in the sack to allow so many dumb angles".

Leading on from my earlier post ... TNA UK have just posted that the catch up episodes will start on Thursday 3rd February at midnight, with new episodes from Tuesday 8th February.

This will bring us up to date! So the episodes we missed were

Well who else are they gonna get to write TV? Who else has the experience that Russo has? Very few is the answer and when you have a national TV deal and monthly PPVs to provide you can't have anybody writing your shows, you need someone that knows what their doing, that knows how to properly write a show. Just like any TV show your not going to like every single storyline and it doesn't matter if their dumb or not, it ain't real life. It's like Rey Mysterio in WWE. A complete slap in the face, an insult to any adult watching. My niece could beat Rey Mysterio up so don't insult my intelligence by telling me that little...man can beat someone over 6 feet. Oh wait..........it's not supposed to be real life. Oh well that makes it ok then.

WWE is a completely different entity. It was aimed at kids for over a decade, then aimed a teens for another 10 years and now it's aimed towards kids again. That is promotion in which a voodoo man put a curse on another man, and a 75 year old gave birth to a hand. It's Vince McMahon testosterone filled crazy soap opera for at least 20 years. Mind you, it's stale as hell and that's one reason why their ratings keep falling every year.

TNA doesn't really have an identity. But it appears like it's meant to be a more serious, more believable alternative. It billed itself as "We are Wrestling", yet it had less wrestling than Raw. Some of the stuff since 2006 has been laughable, some of it has been very good too.

I'm no fan of the Ru, and you know that. I think he is a fantastic creative mind with wrestling knowledge, but I also think he's a terrible booker. You see, from what I can gather, WWE employs hollywood writers to write scripts and give storyline suggestions. But it also has wrestling minds like Hayes and co, in addition to the McMahon family, who understand how simple wrestling is and process the ideas into the 80 year old pro wrestling format. Vinnie doesn't seem to have any editors in TNA with the powers to stop his often overkill direction.

Why are the catch-up episodes being shown at midnight?

Why not show them at 10pm instead?

Maybe they have other programs they wanna push at 10pm on those other nights. Tuesday nights will be TNA's night i guess.

Vince McMahon hired Vince Russo because what WWF was doing at the time was outdated, it was silly, very very old fashioned. WWE was never a proper wrestling company, even then when you look at all that talent he had to work with, there was only a handful that could actually put on a really good wrestling match but then again....did people really watch WWF for the great mat wrestling? I don't think so. All Russo did was make it a little more believable and give interesting storylines that made it unmissable each week. A large part of that success was the talent i think. They could be 'characters' and pull it off. Cheesy acting has always been a part of pro wrestling but those guys could do it in a way that it wasn't cringy. Seeing the Rock overacting during a promo wasn't embaressing to watch, it was cool and funny to watch and was nothing to be ashamed about seen watching.

TNA hands down has the better wrestling. That in itself is enough for people to switch off right away. People that are used to WWF/WWE will not watch a Beer Money/ Motor City Machine Guns 20 minute match. It's too much for them to take in. It's too in their face. It's too much....wrestling. Russo fails in TNA largely because the people that are there are really there for the wrestling and they are very believable so when there is a dramatic storyline or character it doesn't always come across well. In a way his booking does suit the WWE very well but only if you have the right mix of people involved and the right talent and it just isn't there in TNA. The again i don't even think WWE would go back to that style of show and if they did i don't think their current talent can pull it off. They seem obsessed by having wrestlers use their real names and wear trunks and well.......look like wrestlers! lol. The minute any wrestling company tries to make it look like actual wrestling they immediately limit what they can do. TNA is a mix of legitimate wrestling/straight forward storylines and over the top characters and promos. it just doesn't mix well.

Viewers in Wales will not get Challenge on Freeview after 6pm...so no TNA for us

tna seems to reboot every couple of months. the problem is there is no long term investment into stars.

How many times do we have to hear, something big is gonna happen or there gonna be a big surprise?????????

Why not get rid of the hogans the flairs and the rest of the former wcw guys that aint got it anymore. Why matt hardy was hired is beyond me, over weight, slow and digs his own hype is not a great signing. His debut popped then the 2nd week the begining of his tag match lost over 250,000 viewers.

There is a lot of truth in what you said. No surprise that the best TNA characters are those played by people who came up through the WWE. I mean Jarrett's MMA character, which is a hoot. The Pope and Mr Anderson are also enjoyable characters.


Signing Hogan, Flair and Hardy was a good/bad deal. Having recognizable names is a good thing when trying to boost awareness of something. The hype surrounding Hogan led to them doubling their viewers for a short while on January 4, 2010. On the other hand, these people can be expensive and if Spike TV and TNA doesn't market to the limit then ratings won't rise and ticket sales remain weak. Again, it also includes issues with identity and content.

And if they (Hogan and Flair) don't put people over to the maximum, then it's another wasted venture in the longrun. The problem with that is Hogan/Flair are so charismatic and iconic that they always put themselves over, even when having honest intentions for a change.

i like tna they've got some really good guys there but the problem i have is that the impact zone looks so tacky and low budget.

if your trying to stage a good entertainment show then at least make an effort with production.

I dont get this "reboot" talk. If you mean TNA focuses on a storyline then moves focus to another storyline then yes but thats just the same as every TV show.

Well TNA are taking Impact on the road due to Spike TV visiting a house show a while back and loving the live house show atmosphere. The only problem is a TNA house show and a TNA Impact are two completely different things.
