Treated as a goof. Excellent wrestler. Superb entertainer, but not World Champion calibre.

I think after weeks of Anderson getting his own way, it was about time someone brought him down a peg. And, if anything, it'll motivate him to give Sting his full attention and not rip him off.
Eric Young is a good wrestler. Just having a goof beating your No.1 contender before the PPV just makes Anderson look stupid and won't convince people to buy the show.

Aren't they up against the Basketball? Not giving excuses, but hell, if Blackburn Rovers were playing one night that TNA was on, I'd pick the football over TNA.
I think the PVR ratings were low as well, so it wasn't like people just recorded it.

Has Miss Tessmacher got a match at Slammiversary?

If this counts as a spoiler until after Wednesday night then I apologise.

It should be said that wins and losses actually mean more in wrestling than MMA because everyone in MMA loses at some point. Clay Guida, arguably the most over guy in UFC, has a 29-11 record. In wrestling theres no need to lose so they can build around that.

It's a shame about Foley imo.

The episode with the 'reveal' a few weeks ago when we found out he was the network rep and also when he revealed that Chyna was Kurt's mistress and he made the battle royal - was the 1st time in ages I had been genuinely excited about TNA to come.

Should definitely be more battle royals or survivor series type matches and of course the X Division.

It is a shame that the Foley angle had to end the way it did, but nevertheless it does appear that TNA are going ahead with the all X-Division PPV idea, and I think they should be applauded for that. A typical TNA knee-jerk reaction would have been to can the whole idea, but instead they're trying to find a way to work around it.

Can't wait for Destination X personally. I gave up on TNA yet again for a month or two recently, but the poster with the tease on all X Division, the old ring and some new/old faces means I have to try it again. Fingers crossed.

I see it as Spike TV, who are over Bischgan's head. So, basically, there's a power struggle.

It's the same angle Heyman ran in ECW, and Russo ran in WCW (The Powers That Be/Standards and Practices). The problem with a heel booker is that it's hard to find excuses for them not to screw over the babyfaces every single week. The standard solution is to add another level to the fictional hierarchy. WWE tend to use Linda McMahon and "the Board of Directors".

It's one of the many wrestling cliches that I wish TNA had dispensed with, because it just adds further complication. It was bad enough when you had Foley, Bischoff, Hogan, Dixie and Jarrett all claiming some kind of control over TNA. They wrapped that up (sort of), only to reopen the can of worms.

Impact was really poor last night, that's as bad an episode they've had since the move to Challenge. I'm not in the business of overanalysing it, but it just bored me, some bits were cringeworthy, and none of the matches were any good.

Still, looking forward to Slammiversary, looks like a decent card.

Wish they'd scrap the whole Winter/Angelina thing. It's just utter shite!

It's been like this for a while in TNA now. I remember discussing it with you guys in the last thread. Power figures and way too many.

I wish they'd bring Dixie back as the big boss. Obviously she's not gonna be pretend booker, but it's better with her there.

You should have watched Xplosion. Williams vs. Red made up for the WHOLE two hours of Impact.

Slammiversary thoughts:

•Overall the match quality was very good, even the Knockouts match was better than average
• Angle/Jarrett was fantastic, their best match
• The punching was terrible in Crimson/Joe, these guys were supposed to hate each other but it looked very fake. Poor showing, both men are capable of better than that
• I liked the finish to Sting/Anderson; very clever, haven't seen that done anywhere before. I watched the replays several times and it wasn't screwed up, it just looked confusing - that was the point anyway. Glad Anderson is the champ, frees Sting up to build his feud with Hogan for BFG
• Not surprised or upset at Abyss keeping the X-Division title as I've said all along I expect him to drop it at Destination X. But I wasn't a big fan of the way it was booked, Kazarian and Kendrick looked like bumbling fools at times
• Styles is awesome, great match with Bully Ray. I don't agree with the outcome, it was a bad finish, but I don't think it will do Styles any great deal of harm as he came out of that match looking fantastic

Probably my joint favourite PPV of 2011 so far, alongside Extreme Rules. Say what you want about them, but TNA have a great summer PPV schedule - Slammiversary, Destination X and Hardcore Justice all in a row.

The Good

Bully Ray vs AJ Styles was a classic.
Jarrett and Angle was very good.
The opener was a good solid tag match.
Mr Anderson vs Sting was amazingly passable. Bischoff's interference was cool.
Morgan going over Scott Steiner
The Bad

Morgan vs Steiner was poor as I expected.
The triple threat was severely hampered by being booked backwards.

Ending to LMS match was one gimmick to far.

Rushed ending to world title match and the unnecessary and very confusing cheap victory.
The Ugly

Crimson showed he can't work an acceptable match unless it's less than 5 minutes. Joe didn't look good either. Agree with ags on the god awful punches.
Felt the womens match was really bad -- Angelina has forgotten how to work.
Slammiversary thoughts:
Same here

Thought the knockouts match was a real highlight until Mickie completely botched her finisher.

Angle/Jarrett was great, but not as good as the 2 out of 3 falls match.

The Crimson/Joe match was bad - mainly due to Crimson seemingly not having a clue how to sell. It was almost like they put the match together on the fly.

Any match involving Sting is invariably dull. This was no different.

X Division match was meh. I don't watch Matt Morgan matches on principle so fast forwarded that one.

Tag team match was watchable, but felt more like an Impact match than anything.

AJ/Bubba was terrific Really enjoyed it. AJ's spot off the scaffolding .. bloody hell !. The finish after that just made AJ look like a **** though ..

Still, one of the better PPV's ..

I'll be disappointed if the AJ/Bully feud doesn't kick-off again after Destination X, I think there's more mileage can be got out of their feud when a stipulation is added. Full Metal Mayhem maybe?

I thought Angelina was very clean with her in-ring stuff last night. Way cleaner than Mickie.

Sting looked fantastic, aside from his paint being smudged. He looks like he's been doing the weights again, and the late-90's red outfit was amazingly smart. Wouldn't be surprised if TNA ask him to keep that, given it gets away from the generic "everybody-wears" black stuff.

The whole Sting/Anderson thing worked last night. The finish was typically stupid though. Unique, yes, but I didn't like it. The low-blow in front of the referee will come back to haunt Bischoff also.

Nowhere near as good as Slammiversary VII, but a decent show nonetheless.
