Really enjoyed Impact last night. X-Division ladder match was given more time than I thought it would be and had a couple of cool spots, and Styles vs. Roode was fantastic. Quite enjoyed Hogan's announcement as well, despite it's mastubatory nature.

Not disputing his work just stating the fact he is a blatant rip off of Chavo.

Quote:
“Vince Russo has been removed from his post as the head of TNA’s creative team, according to a report by ProWrestling.NET. Russo has been replaced by Bruce Prichard, who is also in charge of TNA’s talent relations.

Russo is not entirely gone, as he’ll still be one of the senior writers for the show along with writer Matt Conway, but Bruce Prichard will now handle the overall direction of the shows and has the final say on the scripts.

This major change to TNA’s creative structure has been in the works for several months and became official within the past week or so.

There are said to be mixed feelings in the TNA locker room regarding Bruce Prichard getting so much power in TNA so early into his run with the company – but at the same time, Russo’s demotion is sure to make many people happy.”

Put it in this thread as it isn't a story spoiler or anything, but if true, expect to see some changes in the style of show TNA present over the coming months.

Also looking forward to the reaction of whedon247

I look forward to seeing how things change as a result of this (but not in a 'gonna change the company forever, brother' kinda way....)
On a separate note does anyone feel genuinely sorry for anyone who has to get in the ring with Kid Kash? The guy is a proper stiff psycho! I cant remember feeling this bad for anyone since Brock Lesnar's debut!

Tonight does appear to have a fair bit of piped in audio.

Bloody deleted last weeks, so missed it, but tonight's was watched. Wasn't impressed much at all, if I'm honest.

Fast forwarded through the Gunner/Kaz match and the KO's match (which I regret now, as the quality was poor in the rest of the show) but at least we're only a week away from Bound for Glory! Who's staying up to watch it live? I am. Always have, always will.

I'd much rather watch it on a television instead of a PC monitor

It'll be interesting to see what happens now Russo is no longer head of creative. I can't imagine we'll see many changes in the short term as I would imagine that many storylines are already set for BFG and what goes on afterwards.

But then he's still employed as a writer apparently so it's possible nothing at all will change.

meh, lets face it vince wasnt head of creative really anyway

impact has been bland for months(read my posts ive said this before this news of russo being ousted)

no crazy/memorable segments, too much pure wrassling,no truly interesting storylines

the only russo imprints i see are roode being primed for jump from midcard to main event and pope/d-von family matters

the rest i think suffers from too much interference

angle said himself a few months ago that hed read russos outlines for next 6 months, love it and then 3 weeks later find that 80% had been changed to something else by others

unless you give russo 100% control theres no point having him really, but im glad hes still on payroll.

gotta agree.

Russo was always heading for the choping block and whats the point of paying him a dollar if he's not in control.

Eric/bruce/hogan/jarrett could turn out to be a massive mistake in creative control.

I've been out of the loop for the past few weeks regarding Impact. Just couldn't justify making the time to watch it.

I did tune in again last night. Still wasn't great. But I must admit it looked fantastic being out of the Impact Zone. How much of the atmopsphere was exagerated I'll leave to blissful ignorance.

Sting vs Hogan at BFG though? It's going to be hideous!

Hahaaa! Got that covered, which is why I'll have it streaming through my old Xbox with a plugin. Unless they'll have it on Xbox Live, which I doubt. (I know they put Impact up but that's not live.)

Completely agree. Fire him and get it over and done with.

With regards to Impact being bland, that's the Bischoff way, and I agree with his method. While Russo might be ratings-orientated, with his car-crash TV playing out for two hours on Spike and Challenge, Bischoff is more methodical, and realises that the money comes from PPV revenue. Regardless of so-called "official" (read: supposedly leaked) numbers (I know someone will probably post Meltzer's latest dribble on how many buy-rates the last TNA PPV got), that's where TNA's main income comes from. So why WOULD you have all your storylines and your pure wrestling on free TV? You need to dangle the carrot, as it were, which is something Russo has never been good at.

And no, I don't agree that Roode's push has Russo's fingerprints all over it. In fact, I don't even think it's been a creative decision. I remember tweeting Jeremy Borash last April as he took answers on who should be challenging the then-World Champion, and many, myself included, said it should be Robert Roode. The fans have wanted to see him pushed for over a year, and anyone with an ounce of wrestling knowledge can see he has the makings of a World Champion. To see someone giving Russo credit for this is, quite frankly, insulting. If he'd have had a say, he'd have split Beer Money up, having them feud with each other, killing two potential storylines in one Russo-swoop. I'm almost certain Russo wouldn't have Roode booked against Angle for the title at Bound for Glory.

I think Roode's push is probably strongly influenced by Hogan, actually. He was interviewed a while back about who he saw as the future of the company and he was very high on Robert Roode, he sees him as the complete package.

I'd have to agree, although James Storm is no slouch either, I think he's got better mic work than Roode.

Completely agree with that statement, which probably gives him the edge on Roode. To Roode's credit, he has the physique and character of a true World Champion, whereas James Storm is a lot less ripped and "drinks".

Either way, the pair of them are two fantastic talents that have very bright futures ahead of them, both in singles and tag-team competition.

Roode to win the title, then build up to Roode vs. Storm for the title at Bound for Glory 2012, with Storm winning the TV Title along the way, giving THAT some credibility too!

I'm not so sure. TV rights and licensing are now WWE's biggest revenue stream by far. While we don't actually know the buyrates, the signs don't look good. Summerslam for instance had about 170,000 buys (US) and Over the Limit only managed in the region of 70,000. Now that's the big dog with 4 million more viewers and state of the art production values. By those standards it isn't difficult to believe a TNA PPV is drawing less than 10 - 15,000 buys on average. If that is the case, then they won't have much left after the PPV providers take their 50-60%, taxes are figured in and the cost of airing a quality live broadcast. Spike or the studio won't be paying for that imo.

So it's very possible deals with Spike TV, Al Jazeera Network, Setanta Sports etc is the money maker thesedays.

I've got to say- Beer Money are brilliant. As a team we all knew they were amongst the best ever tag teams in wrestling industry history, but individually they are outstanding. They both have it all, everything that is needed to be a top guy.

Granted, it looks like Robert Roode is now a bona fide main eventer and thankully so, I just hope James Storm isn't left behind. I'm pushing for Storm to now be a main eventer too. And also, I'm wishing for Beer Money to stay together too but i judt fear TNA and wrestling in general points toward an impending break up.

I think Roode will give his first title shot to Storm - presuming he wins at BFG which looks very likely - and I think a split will be teased, but I don't think they'll make their mind up until they see the audience reaction to that. Kind of like how WWE teased a Batista face turn when he was in Evolution - the audience reaction was so strong to the 'fake' turn that they decided to do it for real.

WHAT I LIKED
TNA being out the Impact Zone.
The Beer Money Promo then the match between the pair. Roode/Storm are awesome. In some ways this big build-up for Roode has worked wonders for Storm as well.
Sting Dressed up in his Hulkamania gear.
Eric Bischoff/Jeff Hardy confrontation followed by the Twist of Fate/Hate.
Samoa Joe vs Crimson.
The Bobby Roode second build-up vid.
Hulk Hogan/Sting promo. You knew the "retirement" was a load of rubbish but it was funny seeing Sting play that video then Hogan getting angry at the end.
WHAT I THOUGHT WAS OKAY
Gunner vs Kazarian
James/Sky vs Winter/Rayne
Hulk Hogan Clip (The takeover one)
Bully Rays promos
WHAT I DID NOT LIKE
Mr Anderson and his promos. Didn't mind Anderson a few months back but he is really annoying me now. The beginning mic-bit on the entrance way, his wrestling along with his in-ring promo work the last few months have been IMO sh**e.
Number one for embarrassing promos goes too Brian Kendrick. I have had enough of his ramblings. I was glad when Kid Kash whacked him.
Hulk Hogan Jan 4th/March 8th clip was just his entrance and a bit pointless.
I think i have covered everything.

knockouts,kazarian/gunnar went wayyyyyyyyy too long

roode/storm was good

i agree anderson/bully is kinda annoying
FMM for rvd/lynn is great but no tv build up for weeks now

least the crowd made some noise this time

looking forward to BFG but still think impact needs to improve, they need to tour every week too
