I had my dog castrated today, he doesn't seem too bad just sleepy what do people recommend about walking do I take him on short walks or just not take him out for a while?
The vet didn't really give any advice on this.

He's pretty much good to go, although not too much jumping, rough and tumble because of the stitches. It's a lot less invasive than spaying a bitch so it shouldn't cause him any problems.

we're looking into getting our boy done soonish as his"laddish" behaviour towards us,and other dogs we look after is getting out of hand now. (i went into the shop to buy some bread, and when i came back out he had mounted the dog we walk, who has just had an operation to remove a fatty lump from her arm pit, and was having a whale of a time on there)

it's like he woke up one day in december and realised he had a penis :/

he's coming up to four now, so in my eyes still young enough to be able to cope relatively well with being knocked out and the op

we did look after a dog once who was done, then came to stay with us for a couple of weeks, we didn't really have to do anything different with him, just discourage him from interfering with his stitches and that was it, though he wasn't exactly a jumpy dog so it was a pretty easy ride

with our boy now, he's a lot more boisterous so we could have a couple of problems with him. he had staples in his paw the christmas before last and would do nothing but lick them, so had to have a bandage on to discourage him

wouldn't really worry though, he might be a bit sore down there when moving for a while, but he'll get over it.the main problems will be stopping him interfering with his wound
