How do you change a link from ''http://www.(etc.)'' to something you want to type there?
The link usually looks something like this

{URL="http://www............."} blue highlighted test here which is page address of the site you are linking to. This can be deleted and replaced with the text you want to appear. {/URL}

The brackets are square but if I do that it will think I'm trying to write code and won't appear correctly.

After you have typed in your post, highlight the text you want as the link. Then click on the small globe icon (It's about 2/3 of the way down the line that starts 'B I U', it will say 'Insert link' when you hover the mouse pointer over it)
Click on it and type or paste in the url of the link.
That's it
Hard to understand, but I'll give it a try.

Thank you!

Is the "go to first new post" function not working for anybody else?

It seems to work sporadically for me.

It's always been a problem for me. Randomly threads say they've got unread posts even if I've read them. This messes up my subscribed list.

Sometimes it does and sometimes it just brings me to the last post on the thread, even though I know it should be a couple of pages before that.

Don't understand the question. What are nested quotes?

What does it mean when someone's user name is in black print, with 'posts n/a' under it?

I was wondering the same thing. I know inactive member means they've been banned and I think n/a means someone has de-registered. I think I remember reading in a thread before that in the olden days () when you de-registered, all your old posts and threads became inaccessible but that when you de-register now, that doesn't happen. I don't know if this is true though. Can someone from forum support clear this up properly for us please?

Edit: I asked this question in another thread and this is the answer I got

It gets confusing as DS now tend to list those wishing to close their accounts as "Inactive Members" so as not to reduce the number of "registered users" that they have ie. to make it look like they have more registered users than they actually do.
It would appear that now when people de-registered, DS just reduce them to inactive member to make the site look more active? Personally if I had de-registered, I'd prefer the n/a system.

N/A users were people who have had their account deleted entirely. While their posts and threads remain active, their profile does not. We no longer do that and instead, if users wish to terminate their membership, we remove their ability to access their profile.

So what appears under their username because you can still activate an inactive members posts/threads. Do de-registered posters become "guests"?

Hmm, so you have to manually type the user's name and copy and paste their post yourself instead of using forum functions? Too much like hard work hehe.

Basically you need to paste the second quote into the first one (before the final [/quote]). As far as I'm aware there is no button that will do nested quotes for you hence you rarely see them used.

What happens to posts & threads which are deleted? Are they accessible to mods/admin in a secret 'bin' or are they deleted forever never to be seen by humanity again?

If you use the 'multiquote' button, you could then cut & paste one quote inside the other before pressing 'submit reply'.

People who terminate their accounts become 'Guests', yes.

They are moved to a hidden forum so that we can access them again at a later date, should a ban or warning conflict arise.

Thanks and final question. Under the n/a system, you couldn't access a person's posts/threads. If someone is inactive, you can. If you become a guest, can other posters still access your posts/threads through your profile or do they get blocked?

The users accounts remain intact when they terminate it; meaning their profile can still be accessed.

Thanks Andy. On a completely different topic, I don't know if other people know about this but it's kinda cool. It's a "Let me google that for you" app for smart arses, whereby if someone is too lazy to google something, you type in the question for them eg do you know how to use google?

App link http://lmgtfy.com/

If you click on your start button>type in character map in the box where it says, 'start search'>click on whichever symbol you want to use>click select however many times you want to use the symbol>click copy>then paste into your text.
