No era Rihanna has ever done can ever match the success of the Fame/ Monster era.
As long as this next album is good then she will continue to kick her arse in all aspects. But GaGa as a newish artist needs to deliver with the next album. |

. Gaga sold alot of albums and had three huge singles, Rihanna is a consistant album seller and huge single seller. Plus Rihanna has the Chris Brown thing, the huge evolve from her 'Pon De Replay' days, the many different looks (that are natural, unlike Gaga's many wigs and costumes) and seems to sell based on her talent and song quality and not because she acts like a freak and writes weird lyrics. IMO. |

Rihanna > Gaga.
Gaga is more 'iconic' and gimmicky but Rihanna is more real, interesting and charismatic as a person. |

Gaga might have outsold Rihanna's individual albums, but Rihanna has absolutely smashed the singles charts in every single country all over the world. 'Umberella' was much bigger than 'Poker Face', and tracks like 'Disturbia' and 'Love The Way You Lie' (plus Only Girl In The World and What's My Name) only confirm she's the best pop artist we have right now.

.....as the best female artist.......what?
This week? Last week? On the moon? In your mind? What? Without a little basis for this 'fact', it's just an endless yes she is/no she isn't back and forth. |

LOL. I love Rihanna, but she's not a music artist: she's a corporate puppet. Comparing her to GaGa is ridiculous.

Lady Gaga's desperation for attention is quite shocking. She will do ANYTHING that gets her in the papers. Even if her next album was average, it would be COMPLETELY over-hyped, even if it was a song of Jedward's standards.
Rihanna > Lady Gaga. |

Right now Rihanna is huge. Im glad she's finally been getting the recognition she's getting. I've loved her from when she bought out her first album and it's nice to see how she's grown. I think she's better than GaGa.

How exactly?
Gaga is in-between albums right now, she hasn't released anything for well over 7 months...so obviously she's not going to be in the limelight as much. Saying that though, two words; meat, dress. Rihanna's album simply came during Gaga's break. She's incredibly popular, with #1's every now and then, but she's not had anywhere near the success/dominance that Gaga had with TF/M. I think people underestimate how HUGE Gaga is, and how big her debut has been. We genuinely have not seen a popstar break through on this level since Britney over a decade ago. The billions of YT views, the constant media attention, the hit after hit, huge sales etc. Gaga is a phenomenon. That's all if you're classing popularity/numbers as defining 'best'. If you're meaning quality of work produced, the clear winner is still Gaga. Rated R (although my favourite Rihanna release) did poorly even though it showed growth and perhaps inclination that she was taking more creative control...which resulted in a rush release of generic, blatantly 'quick buck' material in the shape of LOUD to make up for the set back. |

IMO. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poker_F...song%29#Charts Umbrella and Poker Face have done about the same worldwide. And it's pointless to talk about how Rihanna has 'evolved' as an artist in relation to Lady Gaga, because Lady G has only been around for 2 years and 2 albums, and Rihanna has had 5 albums in 5 years. Lady Gaga has had 2 worldwide no.1's and 3 other worldwide top 10 hits with 2 albums, which is some achievement - Rihanna's had more time to achieve that so you can't say she's better in that sense when she's been around a lot longer than Gaga. Anyway, I find Rihanna a bit hit-and-miss. When she's good she's very good, but her lyrics are a bit crap a lot of the time. Only on Rated R were her lyrics quite interesting, because of the Chris Brown thing, but other than that I don't find her very interesting at all most of the time. She's obviously had some great pop songs throughout her 5 albums though. To add to that, Rihanna isn't anywhere near as strong as Gaga as a songwriter - most of Rihanna's songs have at least 5 writers on them, and she only occasionally co-writes her own songs. Lady Gaga writes the majority of her songs with just one co-writer (the producer of the songs), and she's written for other artists as well. I personally think Gaga has some very interesting lyrics with multiple meanings - people might criticise her for writing 'weird' lyrics, but if she wrote standard lyrics like everyone else, people would call her 'generic', so she can't win. She's also a more consistent live singer than Rihanna, and she plays instruments too, which Rihanna doesn't do. I totally disagree that Rihanna sells on her songs and quality alone - ANYTHING she releases gets massive promotion and creates a hell of a lot of buzz before it's even been released - remember all the hype leading up to the premiere of Only Girl? There's no way it would of been as hyped if it wasn't by someone like Rihanna. She's hugely popular with kids as well so whenever she releases anything, people will buy it regardless. That's not a dig - it's just how it is for most big popstars today (Britney is another one), and Rihanna gets that as much as anyone else. Oh and people can talk about Gaga's dress sense as much as they want, but Rihanna dresses and acts incredibly slutty on stage - just look at her X Factor performance and all the controversy that caused. I've lost count of the amount of times I've read new articles about Rihanna's live performances, and some of the stuff she wears makes her look like a porn star, so she's just as bad as anyone in that sense. That includes her videos. Last edited by kutox : 27-01-2011 at 17:31. Reason: added/changed a few things |

Rihanna's getting the limelight now because LG hasn't got any fresh music out but no way on earth is Rihanna bigger or better than GaGa. LG is a musician as well as an entertainer while Rihanna probably can't play the triangle and strangely started dressing a bit like GaGa just lately

I don't think Rih's started dressing like Lady GaGa lately at all. In what way exactly?
