Idol forum is dead this year

Simon must have had a lot of fans on here last year.

Never seen this forum this dead before.

I know, maybe people just don't know where to find it. I have been looking for threads to discuss the show as it is happening but there have been none so far this year.

Such a shame as I am enjoying it so much more this year, Steve especially, but J Lo too, bring something new. Not seen too much talent so far but one or two look promising

We need to request that the forum is moved up to the front page now that the show has begun

Does anyone know how to do that. Is it a case of just asking the mods?

I came in here last night to see if there was a thread for the auditions, but there wasn't. I did contact the mods asking if they could move the forum onto the main page, but I'm sure last year they didn't do it until the live finals started.

Maybe if a few more of us asked the mods, they might move the forum.

I also popped in to see if there was a thread last night, but all I saw was tumbleweed. I guess we are all sat waiting for someone else to make a thread.

It'll probably pick up once the main shows start. I have to admit, I am not enjoying the auditions so much this year. I'm not sure why, but I'm sure I will be fine once the main shows start.

I think once they get past the audition stages the forum usually moves to the main page, but I guess it depends on how popular the show is in general as to whether / when it gets moved across...

Hiya linny, I came here when auditions started this year, but no one was talking about them, so went off until the Lives started.

The auditions this years are very interesting, more than they were in previous years, and was going to start a Thread, but if no one was going to bother posting in it, then it would be silly if I was the only one. Years ago, a fm said they don't bother with Auditions, but why not have similar discussions re them like we do for the Lives. It would enliven the forum too, as it's gone into a sharp decline.

I've actually not even thought about Simon at all so far! Just shows how much I've missed him

Hi Dix

It's a shame, as it would be nice to have a thread, even if it's just one to cover all the auditions until Hollywood Week and/or the finals starts.

DOI gets put onto the main forum well before it starts, but I guess it's because it will have a larger viewership. I'm sure more people would post in the AI forum if it was on the main forum.

Viewers know that the AI forum is moved back to the Reality TV section at the end of every series (with the exception of two years ago when it was moved back to the main Entertainment section after a couple of weeks and for a few months) so they know where to find it if they want to. The forum is dead because there hasn't been a single contestant yet that has captured enough people's imagination. The general standard is shocking and the few with slightly better voices have all the star quality of a week old bag of chips.

Same applied to this and last year's X-Factor but that doesn't stop them keeping the forum on the front page all year round.

Simon who?

I do watch the audition stages, but don't really start to get interested until Hollywood week, which this year will also be the week when we start to see some of the much-vaunted format changes (aside from the judges, of course!), so I'd imagine this forum will warm up a bit then, before getting started properly for the live programmes...

Talking of the judges, like most (it seems), I'm really enjoying the new panel, and don't miss Simon at all... again, it'll be the live shows when we get to see how good they really are, but I have a good feeling about them.

And I think the talent this year is across-the-board better than it has been for the past few years (unless they're just showing fewer car-crashes), but I admit I'm yet to get hugely excited about anyone... still, I think they'll pull out all the stops to put up a good fight against X-Factor, it's going to be a good season, I can feel it in my water!

I love watching Steve's reaction when the contestants are singing. He's so funny, singing along, closing his eyes and moving his head back and forth.

Jennifer and Randy are great too - it's so much more relaxed.

What I particularly like is that we get to hear the contestants just singing without any music so it's just their voice.

Also it's great to see the panel so relaxed. I hated it when Simon was on the panel. Randy and Paula's opinions were more or less ignored and everyone was waiting with bated breath for what Simon had to say.

All the judges seem equal this year which I much prefer.

I really like the more relaxed feel to the show this year, there's some promising voices gone through as well, although the lives, as always, will sort of the wheat from the chaff.

Last year was much busier wasn't it. I might do that prediction game again if anyone else is interested, but I don't know if I'm invested enough in the season to keep it regularly updated.

It's a shame this forum is so quiet. I'm really enjoying season ten. It's so much better without Simon it's absolutely unbelievable and I'm really loving Steven and Jennifer on the panel. I'm surprised at just how much better Idol is now. Then again, last year was so irredeemably dire anything would have been an improvement. Thank the lord Ellen had the good grace to accept she simply wasn't right for the show.
