Harmony 300 problem with Foxsat HDR
Recently purchased a Harmony 300 remote, and I am having a problem getting the harmony to control the Foxsat HDR.
All my other devices are working ok with the harmony, eg. Sony TV, Sony DVD, Sony Sound System, but I cannot get any response from the Foxsat using the harmony. I have rung up the harmony help line, they couldn't detect what the problem is, they are looking into it, and they will notify me by e-mail if they can find the problem. As this is such a knowledgeable forum, I thought I would ask here if anyone else has had the problem and what the solution was. Could my Foxsat and original handset be using a different code? Incidently I am having no problem with the original handset, I just wanted a more responsive handset. |

I bought one of these recently. I've programmed it but haven't tried it yet.
I'll give it a go in the next hour or so and let you know what happens. Edit: Just tried it and it works. Things to try: Reprogram the remote. Make sure that both pieces of protective film have been removed from the Foxsat. Last edited by Jepson : 28-01-2011 at 12:10. Reason: Add results |

Thanks Jepson for your reply.
Did your Harmony work first time with the Humax? or did you reprogram all the button pushes? I have tried uninstalling my Humax from the Harmony and reinstalling it, that made no difference. I can re-assign the buttons, one at a time to the harmony, but I would have thought that the harmony would find all of the common buttons when I first install it. Perhaps I don't understand what actually the Harmony will control. Does everyone have to reprogram all the buttons for the harmony to operate the Humax? |

You definitely should not have to install all the normal buttons individually.Perhaps I don't understand what actually the Harmony will control. Does everyone have to reprogram all the buttons for the harmony to operate the Humax? This may be a stupid question but have you tried pressing the 'Cable/Sat' button before trying to control the Foxsat? It shouldn't be necessary but it might give you and idea as to what's working and what isn't. |

I am doing that, I cannot understand why the Harmony doesn't control the Foxsat HDR, It seems as though all the codes that the harmony installs just doesn't register with the humax. It isn't just the power button that doesn't work, if I switch the foxsat on with its own remote, and then try all the buttons on the harmony, nothing is controlled. The Cable/sat button lights up when I press various buttons, but the humax doesn't respond. |

From Graham's post on 'tvforum':
1. Switch on your TV set and the Humax product that you wish to change the remote code. 2. Make sure that the other Humax product that you do not wish to control is in Standby or powered OFF at the mains. 3. Point the remote control towards the remote control sensor of the target receiver. 4. Press and hold the 0 and OK buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds until the PVR button on the remote stays red. 5. A message will appear on the TV screen: "You can change the remote control mode. Press a Numeric Key (<1> ~ <6>) to select the mode Current mode: Mode 1." 6. Press a NUMERIC button (from 1 to 6) to select a different mode. 7. A message confirming the change of Mode will appear on screen. (I must say it does not seem to be the sort of thing you could do by accident and not know about it.) |

I have just set up a 300 to control my system (Sony TV/Yamaha amp/Humax HDR and Velodyne sub-woofer). It works perfectly with all of them. Are you sure that you have set it up for the correct Freesat system? I have it described as a (Manufacturer) Humax ..... (Model No.) Foxsat HDR. I originally typed in Foxsat HD by mistake and lost almost all of the HDR features. It did however switch on and off, presumably because the HD and HDR share that code.
Otherwise try getting the 300 to learn On/Off from your existing remote and try it out for function. |

I wonder if new hdr's now come with the IR channel set to other than one so they work immediately with one of the newer Freeview-Hd boxes. Just a theory
![]() I use a Harmony 1000 with mine no problem except that I use a macro to send three zeros for power on. |

Thanks Jepson and grahamthompson(for his original post)
I think we have solved the problem, just done the reset and my set-up was set to mode 3, reset to mode 1 and now the humax is being controlled by the Harmony, Not tested all the commands but the unit will switch off and on now. Thanks! ( breathing a sigh of relief) |
