Possibly an unpopular opinion but I'm really loving the Windass family lately. Eddie shone tonight although not to the same extent as Anna who was just off the chain. Mikey is always good - he reminds me a bit of Aaron from Emmerdale, except perhaps better acted. Shame Eddie's going but I hope they'll find another family dynamic for Anna and Gary (and Faye?) that's just as strong.

I really love the Windass Family as well, I personally think they are the best family in the programme. And I like Anna and Eddie together, I think they are the best couple, and don't actually cheat on each other either which is a change. Its just a shame Eddie is leaving.

You've got my vote!

They've been really well developed, in the traditional Corrie way. Something that's not really happened on Coronation Street for quite a few years.

Coronation Street's got a wonderful tradition of developing characters slowly, over a long period of time. Vera Duckworth made on and off appearances for nearly 10 years before she moved onto the Street in 1983 ... as did many of the other 'big names'

Well done Corrie. Take your time!

When's he leaving? I reckon he might go to prison for the "robberies".

Was Eddie's departure the choice actor's choice or was the character axed?

That's such a shame. I don't know what the Corrie powers that be were thinking. He had great chemistry with Debbie Rush Mikey North and his relationship with Faye looked promising (would have been nice to see him interact with a daughter). Eddie Windass was also a rare character in that he could be placed in a situation with virtually any other character on the street and there would be potential for a big brawl or great comedy.

I like the Windasses. Didn't know Eddie is leaving - why??? Very sorry about the lad (Gary) being chucked out of the army, that really wasn't fair as he was harrassed by the police. I wonder if it will affect the adoption of Faye. I think he should appeal with David Platt giving evidence.

The Windass scenes were the highlight of last night's eps. They are played by three terrific actors who have improved an unbelievable amount since they were first introduced a yet another 'Shameless' type family from hell. I love how the show has developed them and it's a crying shame that Steve Huison is leaving.

Yes; hated them at first now think they are one of the best families there.

I especially like Anna; a truly great character in the great corrie tradition of strong, warm women who show they don't have to be "hard" with it.

My real hope is that Gary moves on and makes his mum proud.

Agree with sentiments on this thread. Really sad Eddie is being axed, thought he was a slob at first but he's a great character with a lot of hidden depths.

is that definite - I don't remember reading it at the time...
I thought he was maybe leaving to avoid being typecast - he has done lots of other stuff and maybe wanted to get back to playing other characters?

I've become very fond of Eddie this last couple of weeks, his scenes with Faye and the cake were very endearing. I didn't like it when they got rid of Natasha, and I'm not happy Eddie's now going, when my ears are still subjected to the piercing voice of Fizz every episode.

Me too. I love how they didn't go down the old route of Anna not being happy with her marriage and she didn't want it in the first place and finally the marriage begins to brak apart and she falls on an existing resident for support and so on and so forth....
I'm glad they're a good couple, and in love They argue, and fight, but they still love each other, I like that
Not gonna like Eddie leaving How are they going to do it?

The characters have worked well and developed. Not like such as the Mortons who completely bombed.

Indeed...and he made exceedingly good cakes too!

The uncle's axing a while back certainly helped too

I hope they don't kill him off, as It'd be so sad for Anna, but then it would be the most realistic route as I can't see that they would split up.

Yes, I hated them on sight (indirectly, they led to Joe's death), but the characters are now great. Anna's passion for Eddie seemed unfathomable, but now it's clear. Also, I wouldn't have touched one of his cakes last year, now I would!
