How's this for an idea for next year's show....CELEBRITY Dancing on ice ?

Thought ITV might like to try a version similar to this years show but with celebrities ? It would make for a far more interesting show and i believe the idea has worked well on other shows like Big Brother, The Weakest Link etc......

Yes, this was really worth starting a new topic for, wasn't it?

In any case, has been discussed before, the chance of getting proper big stars to do something like DOI is practically zilch. If anything, a more 'out there' suggestion would be a new version of the show featuring members of the public in it! Who'd watch that? I would!

i wouldn't...have been watching 3 weeks now and there's still three or four who i wouldn't be able to pick out in a line up and certainly wouldn't remember their name so to watch 'ordinary' skaters would be pointless.i could go to my local rink and do that .

Maybe you should just do that then?

And to be honest I'm not that bothered about how famous the people are, I just enjoy the routines and seeing how they develop week on week. I now know all the contestants because they are stars of Dancing On Ice, and that is enough for me personally.

I would watch. It wouldn't be pointless. It would be on TV, they would be skating with professionals and I'd get to know their names after a few weeks I'm sure. Same as the celebrities that I'm not familiar with. Why does anyone watch 'X factor' or 'Britain's got talent' then? Plenty of shows feature 'ordinary' people.

Ditto. It's skating on TV . Nuff said?

It would sort of be like Jim'll Fix It. If he could fix it for me, I'd love to skate with a professional. I have done in the past. TBH if you can only skate a little, being taken round a rink in a pairs-type hold with someone who has the confidence not to fall over is a treat in itself. My love of skating started with such an event as a sixth-former being taken round by a teacher. If I close my eyes and think about it, I can still feel the rush of air past my face as we sped around the corners of the rink So much more satisfying than inching my way round the edge afraid to let go of the side barrier

me too ... I just iike watching the show

plus Celebrity Big Brother gets it's fair share of "non celebs" so I don't know why the OP uses it as an example

Dom Cork - former England cricket captain, known by millions.
Kerry Katona - stars of numerous ITV2 reality shows.
Dave Vitty - listened to by 8 million people daily for many years.
Jen Metcalfe - soap star.
Denise Welch - actress from numerous tv shows over the past 15 years +.

There's 5 celebrities for you.

I think the casting this year is actually very good.
