Cannot Delete A Programme on Humax

We have a recording on our Freesat HDR which cannot be deleted.

When we press the Media button our list of programmes come on, The recording in question has a G, HD and a box with a lightning flash in it next to it. I then select again to get the menu on for that particular recording. It says that the recording has failed - Unknown reason. When I select delete it says that it cannot be deleted and then the screen freezes with nothing showing in the media listings.

Any ideas how it can be deleted?

There are other recordings still on the hard drive which haven't been watched yet.

This *might* be a symptom of file system corruption.

What might help is if you put your HDR into standby, wait for the front light to go red, then turn its mains supply off (switch round the back at the left). Obviously don't do this whilst something is recording.

Count to ten, then switch the mains back on and power it up as normal. This may fix the stuck recording.

Failing that, make sure the HDR is left in standby overnight, with nothing scheduled to record between 2am and 4am. The box does housekeeping around 3am-ish. That might fix it so that you can delete the recording the following day.

If you have a habit of switching the HDR off at the mains when you're not using it, don't. You might be contributing to a filesystem problem. Instead change the settings of the box to have it go into standby in power-saving mode, which uses less than a watt of power.

We have only got around to sorting out this problem today as we have now watched everything that was already recorded onto the hard drive.

Tried but no use.

Is always in Standby mode when not in use.

Worked!

Thanks to both of you for taking the time to reply.

May I also add that trying all of the above, and a reset, didn't actually delete anything that was left on the hard drive so we could have done this months ago!!

I've only ever deleted programs this way, as I didn't know there was another way. Maybe I should have read the Instruction Manual lol.
