Hi,
I set up my "managers special" from Humax on Thursday and would like a bit of help.
When booted it goes to a channel but if I try to change channel it goes to a blank screen with the banner and stays that way until I try another. Is this normal?
I can't get it to instant record so am I right that for instant record just press record button? Mine shows the Play banner when I do this.
I only have one feed to it at present but have tried a scheduled recording but nothing records. I have done this when it's in standby but no luck.
I've read the manual but it is unclear so maybe I'm doing something wrong and any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Rob

Sorry, it's not 100% clear what is happening.

Are you saying that when turned on the box properly displays a channel but that no amount of channel changing will get it to properly display another?

Which method are you using to try and change channel?

1) Programme up/down
2) Typing the three digit channel number.
3) Moving to the programme in the guide and clicking OK.

Can you even get the guide?
And can you display the Media List? If so is it empty?

To use the box with one cable you need a short piece of coax with a f connector on each end to connect tuner 1 out to tuner 2 in.

Which key on the remote are you using to instant record. (it's the one under the Menu button on the remote)

When first booted, it takes around 30 seconds for instant record to work. If you try it too early, it does indeed just display the banner.

Thanks all.
I am using the red button under the menu button and the box can have been on for an hour or more.
Trying to change channel, I've tried three numbers and programme up and down. This might be because it is shortly after switching on but surely if it displays say BBC1 then trying to change to BBC2 it should show a picture , not just a banner, and eventually come on and not leave a blank screen.
Maybe it was returned to Humax for this reason before as it certainly is not a brand new box.
I tried an overnight recording and it failed again.

It really does sound as if you have a faulty box rather than not pressing the right buttons.

On the other hand, it sounds a very strange fault for a hardware problem - so possibly software corruption. You might try reloading the current software. I haven't done that myself but someone will be able to tell you how to go about it.

Thanks Jepson,
looks like a call to Humax today.

Hi Robbra,

I wonder, did the box go through the first time setup when you initially switched on ? If not, I bet that it thinks it's got 2 LNB connections. Do a factory reset and see if that cures it.

Hi Phil,
contacted Humax and did a factory reset and format hard disc as they instructed, they concluded the disc must be faulty so sending it back.
