Cup-a-Soup
I purchased two boxes, two for one today. I haven't had one for many, many, many years.
What's your opinion on them? I'm trying to lose a few pounds, I think they may be a good investment. |

As a student, I half live on them.
![]() ![]() Not too bad at all, really. If I remember, they've got a fair few nutrients in them considering that they're powder. With some bread and perhaps some rice, with fruit afterwards, they make a good lunch.

They're a good idea if you want to lose weight. The only drawback is that they contain a lot of salt.

If you make only half a cup with them (so it's really thick) they make good & cheap pasta sauces (especially mushroom soup).

Cup a soup and pot noodle are living proof that the theory of evolution is wrong.

They're ok for a quick snack but I wouldn't base my food intake on them.

Serve them up at a dinner party but with a twist, in a bowl and not a cup. Long live the humour of Caroline Aherne and her Royle Family.

You'd be better off buying a soup with more calories in than a cup of soup. A better idea would be to make soup yourself as they tend to be healthier and fill you up for longer. With a cup of soup it's going to pass through your stomach like water (especially if you drink water or tea/coffee with it) and therefore your stomach will think it needs more food.
There was a program about the secrets of weight loss on the BBC recently I think that claimed soups are a great way to trick the body into thinking it was full for longer but most cup a soups are watery and the examples it gave were quite a thick, nutritious soup. |
