Iphone 4. o2 and phones 4u. Please help xx

Let me begin by thanking all who post a reply and for taking the time to read. x

I have an Iphone 4. Got it from phones 4 u, on the day they became available. Approx' 6 months ago. It was an upgrade to a contract I already had with o2.

To be honest the phone has been a bit of a nightmare from day one. Even though it has been completely loved. Never dropped/near water etc. It ends call willy nilly. tells me I have no network. The top button has decided to stop and now it will not charge, knock on or be reset.

I am still under warranty. It has never been opened or prodded at.

Will Phones 4 u replace it? Will o2? Will Apple?

Can anybody help or offer suggestions?

big thanks xx

First instance, ring o2. They will probably pass you onto Apple but o2 should be your first port of call.
P4U probably won't care to be honest.

I'm no expert - far from it - but surely if the op got the phone and monthly contract from Phones 4U, then his "contract" is with them (Phones 4U) and it is them surely that should sort it out? Or is the SOGA different for mobiles on monthly contracts?

Phones 4 U will offer to send the phone to Apple for repair.

If you take at to Apple yourself then they will exchange it there and then.

O2 have no liability as they did not provide the handset so will be unable to help.

Hope that clears it up for you.

Paul M C and Steve are both correct. Normally your contract is with phones4u and therefore any faults should be down to them to rectify

However as Steve says if you make a genius appointment at an apple store (if you have one near you and if not it's worth the journey) they will swap the phone there and then. This is preferable to dealing with phones4u who will leave you without a phone for 2 weeks and aren't known for their aftersales service anyway....... Or their sales service for that matter

If you can't get it to an apple store, give them a ring. You can post it away for repair which should take about a week or they can do a doorstep swap though normally for that they would pre authorise the cost of the phone off a credit card in case it isn't a warranty repair when they receive the old one

I agree with the above. If I was in this situation I would book a Genius Bar appointment at the nearest Apple Store and based on past experience they would replace it straight away.

Yep make an appointment with Apple Genius Bar if you are able to get to one.

My iPhone 4 had a dead pixel, phoned T-Mobile, told them what it was and they said to just make an appointment at the Genius Bar and it will get swapped there and then, and it did

As would I with it being Apple, but legally, it is actually the responsibility of the place you bought the handset from.

Apple usually have a good service with this so you can't really complain about having to go to them.

Indeed. But as we all know, it's a heck of a lot faster going straight to Apple and cutting out the middle-man.
