Orange / t-Mobile signal on iPhone

Hi

I am fully aware of the sharing of signal on orange etc but was firmly under the impression that at present it was on an opt-in basis only?

I have not opted in yet due to the data services issue but today on my iPhone I received a text saying "great news, your phone has detected a t mobile signal and has automatically transferred to that.

However, no 3G and certainly no data transfer allowed.

What is going on and how do I stop it?

I think in the next few days it is changing so that whether you opted in or not, you will receive it.

And why can't you use Internet on it? I can, maybe slower than 3G, but it works.

Because all I get is the little circle and even that keeps disappearing on the t mobile signal.

Do you have a reference to the switchover happening imminently?

This mentions 2011 should get 3G use but doesn't specify date.

Mass provisioning is happening now, and there is no opt-out available from CS anymore.

3G and deamless call handover will be taking place from April.

Not sure why the circle disappears, never experienced that. In the settings you can lock onto your Orange signal only if you'd like?

Not sure whether that will be affected by the mass-provision though.

Well there has never been a problem with orange signal round my location. Today, been on t mobile and it is rubbish. Won't load anything up. Then times out.

I am so p****d off, i am all for sharing networks but not when it results in a loss of service, ridiculous.

Where i live, when i used to be Orange it transferred onto T-Mobile quite a lot, and it was fine.

Now i'm on T-Mobile and there is only one place i've experienced it switching, and the speed of Oranges 2G infuriates me, basically cant use any internet apps or browse web at all with it. However my own T-Mobile 2G works great, albeit slower than 3G, its still reasonably fast.

as its getting put on by default now, they may be allowing it to be opted out again(only to be opted back in when april comes) but try manually selecting orange if its that bad

I'm on Orange and I also get painfully slow data transfer speeds when connected to T-Mobile's 2G network. Switch back to Orange 2G and all is right again...
