Car aerial advice

I'm about to use a top box on my car for the first time and realise that the aerial might get in the way. I wondered whether a short aerila might give as good reception. Like this one on Ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GENUINE-CITROE...item3efcd04d8b
