Is it possible to connect a Panasonic SC-HT545W Home Cinema System to a Sky Hd Box to get 5.1 Sound?

Or are there any alternatives to get better sound?

According to my quick Google it doesn't have a digital input so no you can't use this. Others will come on here and give you specific recommendations for ones that do, usually a home cinema without a built in DVD or Blu-ray player is best.

Before making any recommendations the first hurdle to get over is the capacity of your wallet

Or more importantly how much you want it emptied by.

Somewhere in the region of 400 quid will get you a very decent separates system such as the Onkyo HTS 3305 AV amp and speaker package and something like a Sony BDP-S370 Blu-Ray.
