Does the 'perfect' mobile exist for me? Probably not....

Hi all

I went mobile phone shopping today, visiting the likes of Carphone Warehouse and 02 Shop to "play" with some of the display mobiles to see if I liked any of them....

At present, I have a Nokia 6303 on 02 PAYG. This 6303, is, in my opinion, a good, decent, solid phone, brilliant for my needs...so why am I looking to change it? Well, just after a slightly better camera (the 6303 only has a 3.2mp) and also the ringtones on the 6303 could be a little louder....

Anyhow, here's what I was looking for - I think, I am honestly looking for the impossible!

I am after a phone on PAYG which has the following features:

1) Non touchscreen if poss - although could be open to persuasion if needs be - but prefer a physical keyboard

2) Must have a "Notification light" to alert me to any missed calls/texts. I would also appreciate a clock screensaver that stays on once the screen has gone dark with missed calls/text icons - but I really, really do think this is asking the impossible - although my 6303 does have this...

3) Must have a 3.5mm headphone jack to use my own pair of decent headphones - so I also need a phone with a decent memory capacity and music player

4) looking for around a 5 megapixel camera if poss.

5) Finally, something that doesn't need the battery charging every day - I wouldn't use the phone for internet or wi-fi or data etc... All I would use it for is a few texts/calls and the odd photo here and there...

So, taking into account the above list, am I asking the impossible? I couldn't really see anything that met my needs. I was going to look at the Sony Ericcson X10 mini (not the pro as don't like the slide out keyboard) but couldn't see a working model of this on display....although the small screen on this puts me off....

I came out of the shops today clutching my beloved 6303 thinking that I really should keep hold of this phone for as long as poss!!!!!!!!!

Any ideas or help really appreciated!

Have you considered the Sony Ericsson W995? Might be suitable. Nice phone, big screen got keys, brilliant for music as its a walkman phone. I think its got a headphone jack but you may have to check. It's loud, 8mega pixel camera...Have a look?

Funnily enough, the guy in Carphone Warehouse recommended this phone to me - he said it was one of the best he'd ever personally used (they don't sell it now though) - had a look online, but don't thnk it's got the notification missed calls/texts lights or onscreen missed icons that you can see when the screen is dark..... other than this, I would have considered it, yes.....

Actually was looking at this:

Blackberry Bold 9780:

Does anyone reading this have one? Just wondered if you can have a clock on "standby" i.e - when the screen goes dark (into standby) you can still make out a digital clock and any icons for missed calls/texts?

If you don't want a touch screen Blackberry is probably your best bet and the Bold 9780 runs the most up to date software like the BB torch.

Did you look at the Nokia C3 'touch & type' or the C5 'standard' ?

I have the Bold9700 the one before.

I can HIGHLY recommend the phone. Best phone I've ever had.

Go for it, you WON'T regret it.

Yeah still tempted by this...do you have this? What's the battery life like? (and bearing in mind for me, it would only be for odd calls/texts/photo's with no real wi-fi or bluetooth/internet etc...)

Cheers

Don't really think the iPhone fits into the criteria of no touchscreen

I have used one, its a good phone. Battery life will be good for what you want it for, I'd say maybe 2 days at the most with texting/calls etc

The new operating system is also very good
