I was a kid when these episodes aired but for the saddest eps i remember is

Josh's family burning in house fire
jude being stabbed(my favourite character ever in casualty)

Tina's rape. I was a kid when it was on but i can still remember

The train crash/ anna dying

Most recently though ruth's suicide attempt and may snapping that patient's neck

How could I forget that??! It was and still is one of my most favourite casualty episodes

It's odd, I don't remember the train crash but I remember Anna dying, she was a great character and I THINK that was a holby/casualty crossover.

I don't remember that, I have been very 'in and out' with casualty since I can remember. I watched alot of the 'ellen years', stopped, then watched from around 2007 when Selena was shot, stopped, now i'm back on it again (mainly because of Ruth's S/L).

Bumping this to say I saw the death of Sandra Mute in series 2 earlier (it was on one of the dvd releases from the BBC). That was shocking and seemed a rarity for deaths on the main cast then.

Josh's family burning in the fire was horrific and while very well executed and realistic, it was so traumatic that for me, the programme crossed over from entertainment to being disturbing. That doesn't count as entertainment to me. I stopped watching after that and it has gone more for the shock tactics as the years have worn on.
