I preferred Hines' freestyle out of them all but he's been so overmarked he'll be another one of Kym's partners who I've hated winning (Donny being the other - agin felt he was overmarked and too OTT though I'm sure he's a nice guy).

Chelsie and Mark didn't have a great night really. I don't think it was fair to give them and Kirsty and Maks the Samba which is a very difficult dance out of all of them. The Tango/Paso Doble would've suited Kirsty and Maks better and I think Chelsie and Mark should've been given the Viennese Waltz.

The one thing that doesn't seem right is the fact the judges get to score again tonight...after they know the result of the public vote. It could easily be 'fiddled'.

Regarding the final dances, I think the scores have been very inflated and slightly random this season. It has made the whole thing a bit meaningless.

Chelsea is the Lisa Snowdon (albeit a far better dancer than Lisa ever was!) of this series. Seriously overmarked and clearly the judges pet (see the semi final manoeuverings!). This sort of favouritism never gets the result they want.

Its clear that Kirstie was more popular than Chelsea - and was all the way through, so i am not surprised that she and Maks overtook her due to the public vote, especially having seen her throw everything she had into the freestyle!

That said - I never quite saw why the judges thought Hines was so good.....but then - the football players are always popular with the public!

that was really quick with the links force ten..much appreciated.

I needed to see Ralph reprise his quickstep

very sad he didnt make the finals. Bruno and Len came in for a lot of criticism on the forums, it took me back to Strictly last year

Was a worthy winner though

The ABC forums seem to be just the same as the DS Strictly forum when SCD is on. Lots of complaints and backbiting lol.

I think Mark had more to do with Chelsea's performance than anything else. Hines was seriously overmarked throughout the competition, so he was clearly the favourite. He really wasn't a very good dancer at all IMO. He had personality, but his technique was very mediocre.

They probably wanted to keep Chelsea so that it seemed like more of a contest. She was probably the best dancer overall.

It almost seemed like the judges had decided on the scores before the couples even danced. That was certainly the case last night.

Thanks so much for the links

I'm happy with the result.

I've loved Maks this year but really disliked Mark.
Hopefully Derek will be back next season,

I guessed the judges would score all three couples the same for the final dance, otherwise it leads to accusations that the judges know the outcome of the public vote and are trying to engineer the results. I think it is a bit weird that the public cannot vote when there is still one dance to be done which picks up judges scores. I don't know if it's something to do with their voting system or time zones etc?

I would love to have seen Ralph in the final - his quickstep was one of my favourite routines from the entire series (so I was glad when they showed it again!) and he also was a good dancer, but I guess they always had to lose somebody.

I've no idea what I'm going to do on a Tuesday and Wednesday morning now that the series is ended and I haven't got clips to watch

I'm sure it does have to do with the time zones because the show airs on the West coast three hours later than the East (I think ). I suppose that they have to make it look like something on the Tuesday night counts to make if feel exciting, but it's a bit silly really.

Hines is the only DWTS winner to date who only won on popularity rather than being the best dancer because he's a mediocre dancer by comparison to previous winners.

And Marks should have saved his puppet quickstep routine for the freestyle dance, in any case it just proved that Derek Hough is a superior choreographer than his friend Mark.

This season was quite forgettable, hopefully they get better zeleb casts next year & Julianne & Derek to come back.

Thanks for all the links ForceTen.

BIB - Donny Osmond? (Maybe it's the Kym factor )

To be fair to Hines, there were no standout dancers this season, and, if Chelsea came closest, even with all the help the judges could chuck her way, she didn't even make it to second place. (I'm sure it was Mark who let her down).

I don't think Hines was any worse (or any better) than Kirstie or Ralph, so other things decided it.

(Maybe next season they'll return to the tried and tested formula of pairing an experienced dancer with Derek )

As fridgesoup has already commented - Donny Osmond won it by virtue of his popularity!

And surely it was Shawn Johnson's position as a national icon that won her the competition! Miss America versus the cheese eating surrender monkey Gilles Marini

Hines certainly doesn't bear comparison with previous winners - why even last night, after 10 weeks of competition, he was still nowhere near as good as the previous series winner was in her first week on the show!
