Hi there - I'm new to the forum so go easy !!

PLEASE could someone tell me if there are any connectivity issues between hdmi and dvi ? I recently purchased a Humax HDR and cannot get any image at all on my hd-ready plasma tv. I am as sure as I can be that the TV + cable are fine as I was able to view films on my dvd player fine (this is what the hdmi end used to be plugged into), but as soon as I hooked up the Humax, nothing. Is there something with dvi that is 'old' and will not allow the freesat box to operate correctly ? It seems coincidental that my laptop will also not display an image ono my TV, but my old dvd worked perfectly. The TV and dvd are about 5/6 years old, the laptop and Humax are less than a few months old.

Many thanks for any help/suggestions

I have had problems with HDMI/DVI, if the TV is so old the resolution is probably not up to full HD standard maybe best to get a moden TV to allow the HDR to show its full potential.

My projector has DVI, few years old, seems to work fine connected to the HDR.

Have you tried changing the output settings of the HDR ?

Thanks for your reply.
Unfortunately, I have no image at all !! I'm almost certain that a new TV would solve the problem, but I really didn't foresee a problem running hdmi into dvi ....

Thanks for your reply.
I honestly dont know how to alter the output settings, but perhaps it'd be worth trying (if its possible ???)
Do you think this'd help though, given the laptop is also having a problem getting any sort of image to the TV, whereas the older dvd player just gets plugged in and it works from the off?

Press the 'V Format' button on the remote to cycle through the available resolutions. (five in all)

Been meaning to ask.. and as outputs have been mentioned..
Why does our Wii refer to the higher quality as 480p when playing into my component input..Is this a JAp quirk of speech?

Apologies if I'm not understanding things right, but will this not only help once I have an image to start with ? It's not the resolution that I'm questioning particularly, more that I just cannot see anything at all !
I did go through various resolution when I first had problems with the laptop too, but again, no image was seen at all, regardless of the resolution selected.....

No it's the only progressive output the Wii has and it's the same as a ntsc DVD 720 x 480.

Have you also disabled HDCP theres a chance your old TV doesn't support it. Its in the TV setup on the setup menu.
