I used to like her songs when I was younger. Not anymore though. Does the woman not sing about anything bar sex? All For You which I loved when I was younger was all about sex. All Nite. So Excited. Eeeek. In a way, I am glad she is not as famous as she once was.

Why would you post THAT in an appreciation thread?

You always need an open mind for Ms Jackson...and shes stil famous

I have an open mind for Janet. Everything from her debut to the velvet rope is just amazing R&B <3

Then we have damita jo; which I like to forget ever existed.

My mum loves Janet's love ballads while I prefer to get bouncing to nasty.

Sorry bab, my bad. I love her choreography and her numerous looks she has had. So I guess that is me being appreciative of her then. Oooops. Is that OK now or are you gonna "Throw me up against whatever's close, and get to bossing me around? So you can act bad, don't hurt me, look sexy, talk dirty, and I'll open my spot for you, anytime you want me to?"

I really liked Feedback when she released it, totally fell in love with the video, but it didn't really chart here which was such a shame.

I like Velvet Rope, Together Again is my favorite Janet song

Havent played Velvet Rope for a while...i always think as an album it feels dragged out a bit and loses a flow like Rhythm Nation and Janet. managed to achieve....need to play it in full again however!

Free Xone i used to think was absolutely MAD when i first heard it! love it!

I watched that documentary & it was really interesting.

It just showed how talented Janet really is.

She's surely the most talented of the Jacksons?

She is the most talented!

Just seriously....what she did across those albums....fantastic stuff! You can tell she was in it for the music and entertainment and not for the showbizz side of things.

Very remarkable and overlooked woman! Michael is always the one that overshadowed ehr...even some posters assume that because Janet made a career it was because of her last name alone!

When it comes to Music, Michael was the most gifted. Janet is however a decent actress as well as being the one who's worked the damn hardest for her music career so fair play to her.

* Nods in respect.

Enjoy LM.

I recommend any album to start with first between Control - Velvet Rope the rest is up to you

Oh i am avoiding the first two albums
After watching the Taking control documentary, i will be checking her stuff from Control to All for you

I heard the discipline album a few years ago. Feedback is an amazing song but the album was just a mess.

This is a story about CONTROL!

So glad that the BBC shwoed that documentary...i believe Stateside they UNDERSTAND what Janet was about!

But worldwide Michael was always always bigger, iconic and prolific! But Janet i am such a massive fan of...i like MJ but i connect with what Janet sings. And was so very chuffed they did that! To show she wasnt famous for her last name or her family....she was famous because she managed to break out of the mold! She made music on her terms....she didnt turn into a La Toya has-been or one hit wonder or mini-Paula Abdul career....Janet pushed herself out there and made very brave and honest albums!

I do hope she makes a return to music in the future...i think in 2009 with her performances etc she has kinda reopened a market for her.

And R&B is pretty much a dying genre....i think Janet could and should come back and mix it up again! I think with Madonna coming back next year it will really push Pop forward and Janet can make it possible to comeback in a big way perhaps in a year or two time....would love to see and hear what mind frame she is in to make the music she wants to.

It is depressing to see her lose motivation to make new exciting music on her recent stuff! But when she feels inspired i think definitely people will open up to new material from her

Loved watching it back again on Iplayer! Absolutely fascinating lady

I think Janet could easily comeback successfully with the right producers and songwriters.
She is far from past it.

I think Janet can....(listening to Rihannas Talk That Talk now) I feel so strongly that with Rihanna, Janelle Monae, Nikki Minaj (in some ways) are bringing different sides to R&B and Hip Hop lacking and has been lacking for a while.

I feel watching her there (cannot believe she is 45 already!) she knows that she is capable of more and comeback big if she wanted to!

I feel it is important for Janet to comeback and show that for people who only know of her for ehr Superbowl and "past it" in media publications and Dermot ignoring her on X Factor (not his fault i may add!) dont know what she DID do or achieved...and that is the sad thing about society really....people can discard anything away regardless of their own achievements and overpraise those with minimal.

Thats why i want her to come back, ignore the last two albums and releases from the majority of the decade (Damita Jo i actually think had some solid singles to be fair and overall it was a decent album....just a bit uninspired) i think little monster it may be worth getting Damita Jo cheap just for the sake of it really....a couple unreleased songs are slick and a few should have been hits methinks....kinda a dirtier sequel to All For You only with less input really....but i would check it out anyway!

janet has 28 top 10 hits in the u.s. and 10 of them have gone on to be no.1 in the u.s. sold over 160 million records. 2nd most successful african american female artist of all time behind whitney houston because whitney has sold 170 million records.

Slick stats!

Yeah i thought it was about that as a total...as she sold over 100million albums and i read that she sold around 60 million singles....so yeah that does definitely make sense with it.

Yet she is so overlooked when compared to Whitney who IMO is very overrated to be honest needless to say....not "slagging off" or whatever but Janet for what she did is very overlooked.

Like i say she should return in the next few years when she is inspired to make music again and comeback big! And show people what she is about

she certainly still has it in her left but maybe if she gives it her all then she can make a huge comeback. i think she's a legend imo.

Janet Jackson is already one of the all time greats and nobody can break her career because it's already made.... you can't ever take away from her all the record breaking sales, signature dance moves, iconic looks etc.

I definitely hope she makes a return to music sometime in the next year or so BUT only if she has the right team behind her and the album is well thought out and planned.... because when Janet is on her 'A' game nobody can touch her.
