Yay Janet's working on a new album great news

JUST now read that too working on new music is very exciting!

I mean its always great to have music icons returning but this will be interesting as IMO Janet definitely hasnt created anything truly defining or captivating or over a decade now as an album/song/video etc....cannot wait to see where she is headed next musically.

I know im so excited i love all of her albums some more than others and yes i see what you mean she hasnt really as much as i love Damita Jo album imo the videos and performances wernt the same i loved Janet like in hawai and 2 years after that she didnt seem as creative. I hope this time round she has some good tricks up her sleeve. And a good team aswell. Now shes back in shape aswell i hope shes not shy on her new record!

Please please please bring back Jimmy and Terry!!!!

Damita Jo overall is a fine album....but so much fillery elements bring it down plus the nipple-gate backlash kinda detracted it away....rather a publicity stunt that worked for album promo...it actually made her a shadow of herself.

BUT with MJs passing, Pop making kick ass comebacks, returns, satements and Janets American Idol performance a couple years back recieving massive positive feedback...i think it is motivation enough for her to push it out in music again.

We will see....personally i would love for her to hook back up with Jimmy and Terry BUT also perhaps mix it up a bit too with new producers....oh and Happy Birthday Janet!

I reckon if she has begun the early staves of the album then this time next year i reckon we will be getting official announcements....hopefully not a SUperbowl to relaunch her though...didnt work the first time dahling bless her.

Such a shame, but i do think if they market her well etc and focus her hard on it we could be having new amterial next year summer ....maybe focus on winter end of year sales too.

She really is back in shape and looks so elegant here.

the past couple of days i have been in a Janet mood really!

Mainly inspired by my 1989 recap (my fave year of music) and realised i hadnt played RHythm Nation 1814 in the longest time! By far my favourite Janet album I feel....i think of all her albums it is hr most cohesive and when you feel...oh dear its got repetetive here/there something else of random crops out! Plus i love how kinda relevant it is still in subject matter....plus the New Jack Swing/Industiral Pop sound has such punch! It is such a masterful album....you can understand why a year later Virgin Records had a bidding war on with a record contract up there with (then) Madonna and brother Michael...quite the feat.

And then i felt saddened.....we are living (right now) in a world where the Pop Legends and Pop Icons whome sprung out and achieved such longevity and REAL ness....its not there anymore :/....

Anyways just blasted Control and again while a couple songs i think are "okay" its such a solid (and real) debut album and a favourite....the Janet. album does suffer a bit in terms of its 75min length (and 27 tracks!) but its strengths outweigh its more lukewarm moments...similar in some ways to Velvet ROpe also.

Also going across her career 1980s - 90s even early 00s it is interesting the parallels she did have at different points with Madonna, Prince and MJ her moments of self expression, identity, discovery....it is inspiring....

her later album material by comparison even is so so so poor! its such a shame...but i do hope she gets her name back out there again soon...very much The Forgotten Pop Princess.....she will get her time to shine again...at least if she puts her mind to it

You know the funny thing since i posted this...Discipline actually has grown a bit more on me....and IMO is actually possibly superior to All For You and 20 Y.O in many aspects...i notice the Disco vibes in there a bit more (Rock With U, 2Nite, So Much Betta) and the Old Skool Pop vibes of Control present too....the main flaw i feel is that there is TOO many on production and she hasnt got a single writing credit on any song....bar the interludes of course

But it does remind me of Madonnas Hard Candy in some aspects too and Britney Blackout...the Electropop/Urban vibes present are something blissful on the first half of Discipline

Apparently Jean Baptiste (on his FB) has sent four "hot" demos to Janet Jackson...make of that what you will ...i dont think she is fully retired yet
