What can I watch on Freesat with Homeplug adaptors?

Due to a house move I am about to convert from Freeview to Freesat. I have read that if I use homeplug adaptors and ethernet cables I will be able to connect my Freesat box to my computer and watch BBC iPlayer on my TV. Will this arrangement give me access to other services as well? If so, what are they? The adaptors seem to cost between £70 and £120. I'm not sure I want to pay that much just to get iPlayer on the TV.
Thanks in advance for any information/advice.

You will get a better response on the Freesat+ forum but I will give you a quick response.

I have my BT Homehub 2 and Humax Foxsat HDR connected with 85mps Homeplugs. They cost £40 for the pair and work perfectly, just google for the best price. My Router and HDR are at opposite ends of the same room. I also have a third in the top storey of the house connected to my sons desktop PC and that runs iPlayer fine.

With the home plugs you will get BBC iPlayer now. Also ITV Player is in Beta testing, I have used it and it is OK. Just search this site for details on how to access ITV player. If you go to Channel 900 you will see that it mentions other sevices in the future but as of yet no details are available as to what they may be.

1. Yes and no. You plug the Freesat box to a HomePlug and then the other HomePlug to your home router.

2. No.

3. Very expensive., You can get a pair 0f 85 mb/s HomePlugs for thal that first amount.

Thanks for the straightforward, easy-to-understand answers. I will look for homeplugs at cheaper prices.

These are good: http://www.amazon.co.uk/devolo-dLAN-.../dp/B0028QKNI8

I actually bought the triple pack so that I could link up two TVs to my router. Works straight out of the box - though I would recommend setting up the encryption.

Hey Beerhunter are you calling me a liar? OK you need a Humax box to get ITV player but it is another service and it is available.

Of course, you only need the HomePlug's if getting an Ethernet cable between the TV and your broadband to router is not possible. If you can run a piece of Cat5 from TV to router you can save all that expense on the HomePlug's.

Sorry if that's stating the bleeding obvious, but the question should really be "What can I watch on Freesat with an Ethernet connection"... HomePlug's are just a means to an end.

I got a couple of TP-Link 200mbps for £40, they're excellent. Also the 500mbps Homeplugs are just starting to come out now.

Homeplug adaptors are 'legal' and 'licensed' devices, so the BBC cannot advise people not to use them.

Hopefully some well qualified engineer types will explain their side-effects within the home.
